T.O. Reality Show Still Going Forward
Thursday, March 12, 2009

Even though Terrell Owens has moved to a much smaller market in Buffalo, VH1 still plans to debut the controversial wide receiver's reality show this Summer. Via the Democrat and Chronicle....
VH1 acknowledged Tuesday that the company is in production with T.O. for a reality show that profiles his life off the field. Brett Henne, VH1's senior vice president of communications and Public Affairs, said he also learned of Owens' move to Buffalo through the media, but that "we're sure the show will tape sometime in Buffalo."I actually take back the word "controversial", I used when describing Owens above. See the thing about controversial people and reality shows, is that people are actually interested in their daily lives. I can't for the life of me, think of a reason to watch a T.O.-based reality show. So I would like to change "controversial" to "annoying" please. Thank you.
Currently referred to as "The Terrell Owens Project," the show is slated for an August primetime premiere on the cable channel.
VH1 President Tom Calderone, a Buffalo State graduate, said the show was green-lit for production two to three months ago and was just beginning to film in Dallas. Now, he said production crews are regrouping to determine how Buffalo and this latest storyline will fit into the show.
While the original project may be slightly changed, a January press release from VH1 said the show will shadow T.O. and two of his best friends who also serve as his female publicists.
Update: In case you were wondering where T.O. is this week....he's sporting a bright yellow sweatshirt at the ACC Tournament!

Mark Cuban Likes To Hold His Rod And The Rest Of His DWTS Performance
Tuesday, September 25, 2007
I came in right at the start of this joke, but it's in reference to his newly replaced hip. His partner Kym Johnson asks him if his leg is okay and his response is, "It's okay I hold my rod all the time." You've got to give it to the guy, he's always great spirits and seems to be constantly having fun.
Not a bad performance too....especially with a bad hip....
For details on the moves (mainly his Peter Pan finishing move) head to The Sports Hernia for the photos!
P.S.- No one say crap about how I was watching Dancing With The Stars! Okay Okay.....let me have it.

ESPN Takes Over MTV Show Two-A-Days
Tuesday, August 28, 2007

I submit to evidence item #12,343 of how ESPN has officially transformed into MTV... They are taking control one of the "Music" Television's shows and making it their own. The Leader is changing the name and promising to make it more about Football, but we'll see about that.
After two successful seasons on MTV, the reality show about high school football has moved from Alabama to Louisiana, and is bound for ESPN. And its focus has shifted from kiss-and-tell to first-and-goal. That's fine - even better - for West Monroe, La. coach Don Shows.I think it was necessary to move schools considering Hoover Coach Rush Probst is rumored to have a 2nd family, and the principal was fired for giving special treatment to players. And Coach Shows appears to be aware of that as well...."I haven't changed any grades, and I don't have a 'secret family,' I'm not worried about anything like that. Absolutely not. Absolutely not."
Shows said his team was approached two years ago to do the original "Two-A-Days" and turned it down. Production company Humidity Entertainment wound up at Hoover (Ala.) High, where love triangles became more prominent than square outs.
Shows said yesterday he would have said no again if he weren't assured the game plan would be sports, not soaps. "I just didn't want anybody to get involved in the personal lives of the kids," says Shows (rhymes with "plows").
The show premiers in November, you know when nothing is going on. The opposite of the Summer. Smart move.

People Take Reality Television Too Seriously
Monday, June 18, 2007
The Bachelor starring Mark Philippoussis starts tonight, and people are already ragging on the show....
But just as he's getting to know them, it's time to narrow the field, and what better way to do that than to take three of them on a date and learn about what makes them tick. Rather than wine and roses, their bonding activity is rappelling down a building in downtown L.A. The show's premise, at this point, goes from ridiculous to laughable.
You know....come to think of it.....this is how the Awful GF and I met. But seriously, can we just take the show for what it is? It's supposed to be ridiculous, the women are supposed to be catty, and the dates are supposed to be outrageous. Just turn your brain of for a moment and enjoy people just being utterly ridiculous. You might have some fun.And please don't tell the Awful GF, but I might actually watch this. NBC 9PM.

Cricket To Push Hockey Highlights Off Of SportsCenter Entirely
Monday, June 11, 2007
ESPN's been buying websites left and right of late, and the arbiters of cool have apparently purchased yet another site to provide you coverage of a sport you probably care nothing about.
Sure I like cricket...at 3AM when I come home drunk and don't want to watch an old Real World Reunion show. Well the company that makes sure you know which sports are hot right now has acquired the premier Cricket info site....
"In another significant landmark in its evolution, Cricinfo has been acquired by ESPN, the global sports media powerhouse. The acquisition was announced by ESPN and the Wisden Group earlier this morning. So add Cricket to Mixed Martial Arts, Arena Football, Bowling, and NASCAR to the list of "Items you will see on Sports Center more than Hockey."
With this, Cricinfo joins a stable of top-drawer sports websites including ESPN.com, the US's premier online sports destination, and ESPNsoccernet.com - the world's leading English-language football website."

If You're Not Watching The NBA Finals You Can Watch D-List Celebrities Race Cars Tonight!
Thursday, June 07, 2007

This has to be the dumbest idea for a show just about ever, but ABC has a new reality show (I can't remember if I mentioned this before, and I'm too lazy to check). 12 "Celebrities" will be competing in some kind of time trial....
The show will explore the interaction of top young stock car drivers with stars from the world of sports, music and entertainment, featuring drama and competition on and off the race track. In each episode, viewers will watch celebrities train with a Gillette Young Guns driver. The show will culminate in an exciting finale where the celebrities will be coached from the pits by their Gillette Young Guns instructors and compete against each other during a time-trial race.So who are the celebrities you ask? (And I'm glad you did).....
Jewel
William Shatner
Tony Hawk
Krista Allen
Ty Murray (Rodeo dude)
John Salley
John Elway
John Cena
Serena Williams
Gabby Reece
Laird Hamilton
Bill Cowher
The six drivers that are helping the stars are: Jimmie Johnson, Ryan Newman, Carl Edwards, Kasey Kahne, Kurt Busch and Jamie McMurray.
And the best part of the whooooooole thing....your announcers are.....

Spartans! Prepare For Glory!
Sunday, April 08, 2007
I wasn't planning to write anything about the NCAA Frozen Four championship game between Boston College and Michigan State, even though the Eagles are a regional team that play about an hour from my southern New Hampshire home, but seeing the highlights on ESPN a few minutes ago reminded me that Michigan State uses "Spartans" as its nickname and mascot.
(Because this post is all about me, the above photo has no relation whatsoever to either team in the final. It's a shot of the UNH team, my alma mater and 2007 first round loser, celebrating its semifinal victory over Cornell in 2003.)
