Tony Siragusa To Be An Internet Star

Thursday, June 25, 2009

I know Fox Sports has tried to revamp their website multiple times, but for some reason it never works. The layout looks too 80s, the scores update really slow and there's little to no video. Well Fox is going to try and change that yet again, and in the process they're going to make Tony Siragusa an Internet superstar! Via Media Week....

While most of Hill’s ideas are currently in the development stage, he is already touting one show he wants to produce for FoxSports.com, involving former NFL star Tony Siragusa, who is a sideline reporter on Fox’s Sunday NFL telecasts. A 12-year NFL veteran, Siragusa, nicknamed “The Goose,” has the type of boisterous personality that Hill thinks will stir up football fans. “Tony Siragusa will become an Internet star,” predicts Hill.

But Siragusa is not the only on-air personality Hill wants in heavy rotation on Fox-Sports.com. “We have some good people floating around here,” he says. “There are no rules for the Internet. The possibilities are endless.”

Hill is pondering the production of an online show with his Fox NFL Sunday studio team of Howie Long, Terry Bradshaw and Jimmy Johnson. “Their preproduction meetings could be taped and shown,” Hill says. “They are hilarious.”

He could also team up on-air commentator Daryl Johnson, a former Dallas Cowboys running back, nicknamed Moose, with Siragusa the Goose. And Hill says former Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick, currently a commentator on Fox Sports game telecasts, is also in his sights to do some type of show online (even though Billick does not have a nickname ending in “oose”). FoxSports.com currently offers about four hours of original video per day, a scale that Hill hopes to dramatically expand.

Once his on-air talent is entrenched on the FoxSports site, Hill plans to slot promotional spots on each of the Fox Sports TV telecasts to alert viewers of the online programming and drive them to the site. Hill says he hopes to also beef up the fantasy sports area and “down the road” wants to offer more video coverage of sports at every level, including high school.
The "Hill" that the article is referring to the same one that brought you all of the band shots during Fox's Bowl coverage, so I don't know if these are good ideas or not. Siragusa is certainly entertaining, but I'm not sure if people will take time out of their day to watch him on an Internet television show.

MLB Network's Reynolds And Williams To Talk Man Caves On DIY

Friday, May 29, 2009

There is a revolution in the world of home decor, and that revolution is "man caves". Men from coast to coast have been creating basements filled with bars, sports paraphenallia and arcade games, and Major League Baseball is getting involved. The MLB Network's Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams will be appearing on the DIY channel's "Man Caves" in September, and will be giving away an officially licensed MLB cave. Via USA Today....

Major League Baseball will formally announce today that the DIY Network's popular Man Caves series will include a Sept. 29 show in which some lucky guy — and it has to be a guy — gets his own MLB cave.

The show transforms rooms in houses — usually basements — into pricy playrooms for really big boys. DIY, as in do-it-yourself, frequently creates sports-themed caves — ex-NBA player Brandon Williams gets his garage converted in the Aug. 4 show — in a series hosted by Fox NFL analyst Tony Siragusa.

But with the MLB tie-in will come lots of hype on MLB Network — viewers will be asked to send in videos explaining why they're cave-worthy — and MLBN analysts Harold Reynolds and Mitch Williams will show up for the cave creations.
Sounds like a great promotion, but I wonder if it's for a specific team, or the entire league? Maybe Bud Selig will make DIY create a "Selig Shrine" of sorts, so his legacy can be remembered???

Tony Siragusa Is Serious About Honey

Thursday, November 08, 2007

There aren't words to describe how seriously funny this clip is. Don't you think Tony Siragusa's agent could have pulled a better company to represent than the National Honey Board? Guess not.....

I hate it when my food isn't completely honest with me either Tony.

Innovative Ads to be Debuted During FOX NFL Games

Thursday, December 21, 2006

NY TIMES reports that Wendy's, in conjunction with Visible World Corp., has created interactive commercials for use with this Sunday's NFL telecasts.

The Wendy’s commercials, to be broadcast nationally on Fox Sports this weekend, are one of the earliest national examples of an emerging TV technology that allows advertisers to vary their message at the last minute. The Wendy’s ads will reflect events in the football games, creating what ad executives call a reverse product placement of sorts. Instead of putting Frostys or Wendy’s fries into a TV program, the company will incorporate a show’s content in its commercials.
So you want to know what the commercials are going to be like?
SPORTS commentators will not be the only ones remarking on Sunday’s National Football League games. Animated raccoons will also give instant feedback in advertisements for Wendy’s International that will be shown at the start of commercial breaks.

If the score is 0-0, an ad might start with a Wendy’s raccoon standing in front of an overturned trash can, saying, “I may be nocturnal, but this game is putting me to sleep.”

If there is a touchdown just before a commercial break, another raccoon might say: “Touchdown. These fans are as rabid as we are.”

The report also states that fans could see up to 17! different versions during a broadcast.

You know what? I was sort of pissed about this, but the more I think about it......I'd probably rather have Raccoons telling me the score than Joe Buck.
