Ricky Stanzi Is A True American Hero

There was really nothing redeeming about last night's Orange Bowl until the very end of the program. The game was dominated by Iowa's defense, but it was their quarterback who stole the show by giving a speech for the ages....
USA! USA! USA! There were a few people who thought he was celebrating the United States' win in the World Junior Hockey Championships, but I have a different idea. Stanzi was just reiterating to Chris Myers that jokes about terrorists will not be tolerated in this great country.

That was a stupid question. If, say, Ohio State won, would Chris Myers say that about middle America? Stupid.
Exactly walnuts. About the only thing Myers could have done to make that worse was ask if we had running water in the midwest, or if the internet had gotten to us. I'm half surprised they didn't do a 'One Shining Moment' type piece with Iowa highlights layed over pictures of corn, farms, outhouses and pigs. The worst part about this all is that I wasn't even surprised. This is what we have come to expect from sports coverage that appeals to that group that's below even the lowest common demonenator.
Also, the entire Big 12 is comprised comprised of teams in the "middle America". Do you think any of their fans were rooting for Iowa? Probably not, especially the ones in Ames, Iowa. Again, Stupid. If Ga. Tech would he be ask about how all the south was rooting for the Yellow Jackets? No. Stupid.
*If Ga. Tech won.
"I am a real American, Fight for the rights of every man,
I am a real American, fight for what's right, fight for your life!"- Stanzi
This was, frankly, epic. I can think of no better way for Fox to leave BCS broadcasting than having their sideline reporter ask an absolutely terrible (and totally out of place) question like this. You have to love Stanzi's look after Meyers gets done with whatever came out of his mouth. Ricky did us Hawkeye fans proud. The only thing that could have been better was if he had started it off by saying 'Well, us people in Middle America always long for the chance to tell people in more important parts of America what it means to us to represent an entire region of the country, so thanks for asking this fantastic question.'
