Jim Nantz Not Really Sure What Country Had That Big Earthquake Problem

Monday, January 18, 2010

I got about ten emails, right before the end of the half during the AFC Championship Game, stating that Jim Nantz had a bit of an issue when trying to do a promo for 60 Minutes. The emailers asked if I had heard Nantz pronounce the country in which the recent devastating earthquake took place as Haitia (Hay-Shu), instead of Haiti (Hay-Tee). Well yes folks, he sure did, and here is your video proof....

I love the fact that he just glossed over the Haiti part of 60 Minutes, and got right to the Samoa-NFL connection. I'm sorry....I pronounced that wrong. The Simwowa-NFL connection.

If you had to sit next to Phil Simms for a whole football game I'd lose it too.

Nantz also said both conference championships would be in domes. Lucas Oil Stadium has a roof.

CBS is still far superior than anything that Fox ever puts together.

Thank God the Super Bowl is on CBS this year!

AFC what? Wow. Nance said what he said with (presumably) the word "Haitians" in mind with a producer in his ear, a promo to do, and an NFL game to call. You don't even get the name of the game right in the quiet comfort of your own computer.

Hypocrite.

@ ST100: If that's the way you see things, then I am sure you won't mind me calling you a hypocrite for spelling the name of the announcer wrong. It's Jim Nantz, not "Nance". You're not in any position to criticize someone making a mistake who is criticizing someone making a mistake if you are making the exact same kind of mistake!

Besides how many of us actually say "Divisional Playoffs"?

Every NFL fan on the planet (minus one - make that two) calls it the "divisional round" because of the small fact that it IS the divisional round.

@ ST100: So you really think that you just found the only 2 people in this country that don't regularly call it the "divisional playoffs"?

*palmslap*

People call the wildcard the wildcard, the championships the championships, the Super Bowl the Super Bowl, but I mean, what on earth is a divisional playoff supposed to be? It's certainly not what the name alludes to. They should call it the second round like questionmark does or the conference semifinals.

The NFL calls it the Divisional Playoff round and have for years. I CAN tell you for sure last week was not the AFC Championship. If that's too complicated for you call it what you want....oh wait, you already do.

Our country is in deep sh** with this next generation.
