Obama Joins CBS Announcing Booth During Duke-Georgetown Game

Monday, February 01, 2010

Over the weekend, there was some great College Basketball games, but all the focus was on Duke and Georgetown because Barry Obama was in the house. For most of the game, Obama looked on courtside, but in the second half he decided to stop by the booth and chat with Verne Lundquist and Clark Kellogg....

Not a bad job really. They didn't make him do a whole lot of play by play, but I really enjoyed the "go to the right" joke.

Your Saturday Elite Eight Announcing Schedule

Friday, March 27, 2009

I apologize for the lack of an open thread last night (for some reason Blogger was down), and for the whole Tourney, but feel free to choose whichever post looks good to put comments in (like you've been doing). CBS released the tip times, and announcers for this Saturday, and I wanted to make sure you knew when to block of some time to check out the games. Here's your schedule....

Saturday, March 28th

Connecticut vs. Missouri (4:40pm)- Dick Enberg, Jay Bilas
Pittsburgh vs. Villanova (7:05pm)- Verne Lundquist, Bill Raftery

While I'm not necessarily stoked to see a Big East rematch in Pitt-Nova, I think UConn-Missouri could turn out to be a heck of a game. I'll be sure to have open threads up this weekend, and I might be around to post some comments and quotes.

Only one low seed has made it through to the Sweet Sixteen (Arizona....sorry about that whole you shouldn't be in the Tournament thing), but that doesn't mean the games won't be good. The matchups are stellar, and here's a list of who will be calling the games in the four different regions....

CBS Airs Interesting Exchange Between Tom Izzo And Ref

Monday, January 12, 2009

I don't know if the dump button guy at CBS was asleep or what, but the network aired a hilarious exchange between Michigan State Coach Tom Izzo and ref Steve Welmer on Saturday. Welmer hurt his foot during State's game against Kansas, and CBS decided to air the ref's cursing explanation to Izzo. Well the fun didn't just stop there, a spliced in clip that followed offered even more cursing as Izzo explained what they should do with the guy....

"We have to put his ass in a chair at half-court."- Tom Izzo

Hilarious yes, but what the heck was CBS thinking by airing two separate curses during the replay? I love the reaction from Verne Lundquist after the clip too. Go to break! Go to break!

Bill Raftery Just Likes To Be Naked

Thursday, March 27, 2008

Not only did Bill Raftery talk about Joe Alexander's "Onions", but he spent the better part of the night filling the airwaves with innuendo. Including how he likes to spend nights naked.....seriously. I spliced together a few of his highlights from Thursday night for your enjoyment....

"The answer is take it off."- Verne Lundquist
"Late at night I favor that myself."- Bill Raftery

Quote of the tournament if you ask me. I love me some Raft.

Other Raftery Highlights From Last Night:

"He was strokin' with the best of them!" - Bill Raftery (Via JR)
"He used to sleep on a roll-up mattress. I can relate to that."- Bill Raftery (Via Anon)
"Thrust of the fist!"- Bill Raftery
"When in doubt....just stroke it!"- Bill Raftery

I Think I Found A New Drinking Game

Wednesday, February 06, 2008

We'll call it the "Lundquist-Danielson Tim Tebow Mention Game". The wonderful Cats and Beer has put together a video of all the times that the CBS duo mentioned Tim Tebow's name during their game against FSU last year. Just amazing....

"He's the quarterback you most want your daughter to marry."- Gary Danielson

If I was a mother I'd want my daughter to marry someone like Matt Ryan. You know someone that has a chance at an NFL career.

This Is The Craziest College Football Season Ever, LSU Goes Down

Friday, November 23, 2007

God this game felt like it was going to go on forever, but in the end Arkansas ended up knocking off LSU in three overtimes. Just a great game, and this sends the BCS into a complete tailspin.

How crazy is it that Kansas is the #1 Football team in America? Well that's if they take care of business tomorrow. West Virginia looks to be in if they can win out, and pesky Ohio State finally lucks out by ending their schedule early. They can just sit and wait out the carnage. Bastards.

Lundquist And Danielson Crank Dat Soulja Boy

Monday, November 12, 2007

There are no words to describe this clip....just watch.....

The "Soulja Boy" has officially jumped the shark folks. Old white people kill everything in the end.

CBS Gets Their College Football Season Underway Saturday

Friday, September 14, 2007

CBS will kickoff their 7th year of SEC coverage starting this Saturday. The studio show featuring Tim Brando and AA's "good friend" Spencer Tillman is at 3pm, and Florida-Tennessee starts at 3:30.

The lead team for the 2nd year of Verne Lundquist and Gary Danielson isn't all that bad and has the luxury of a 2 week lead-in and covering the same conference they did last year (and every year). In fact I think Danielson is much better for CBS than Todd Blackledge ever was.

They have the benefit of an awesome schedule, The Army-Navy game, and a few good Bowl games (Sun, Gator).

AA welcomes you to the fray CBS and we'll see you Sunday for the Pam Ward Chronciles!

P.S.- I got a couple emails about last night's game, so if you heard anything please pass it along.
