Your College Football Announcing Schedule For Week Nine

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

It's pretty crazy that we're already at Week Nine of the College Football season, but the BCS is out, and we're nearing the end of this thing. If Texas and Penn State win out, it will be those two teams in the Championship, but we all know it never ends up that way. Ohio State will win tomorrow, and Texas will play down to a team in the next few weeks, thus opening the door for an SEC team or USC. It's always fun though.

The Big 10 weekly release is showing EA doing sideline for the UM/MSU game, not Rob Stone. Who's right?

Why is Rece Davis and his posse doing the Thursday Night Game? Is that to give the normal guys a night off or is this Breeders Cup Weekend

Great, Pam Ward is announcing my Illini. Good thing I'm too busy to sit in front of the TV on Saturday, I'll enjoy the radio call so much more.

Just a note on the Mississippi/Arkansas game. The announcing crew will actually be Scott Inman, Jimmy Dykes, and Clint Stoerner. Source:

The last three coaches to the same team will be in the same building for UW-ND, When was the last time that happened?

@9:07: Yes, it is Breeders Cup weekend.

Dave Koehn, the new radio pbp guy for UVA(Mac McDonald suddenly left earlier this year) suffers from Chip Caray/Mike Greenberg disease, so I'm left with watching the games on TV. Doug Bell isn't bad, but Charles Arbuckle is another Rick "Doc" Walker; he hurts my ears.

Fowler, Palmer, and James are doing studio this Thursday. I believe Joe Tessitore is doing all the Breeders Cup hosting duties.

It may be the last 4 ND coaches in Seattle if Kent Baer is still on Ty Willingham's staff. Baer was the interim coach after Ty was let go.

Pretty sad that NC State @ Maryland is only on ESPN 360 -- the announcers are TBA.

Good thing it's homecoming and I'll be there!

They're not even gonna reverse mirror a game between two teams ranked in the top 6? That can't be right.

Oh, and heads up, Texas/Texas Tech is a lock for the primetime abc slot for Week 10.

Stephen:

I think only ABC has Big XII TV rights so ESPN can't reserve mirror the coverage. That's why it's always a Big Ten game and an ACC/ND/Big East game on the mirror.

It's complicated but the cable rights for Big XII and Pac-10 games are FSN's...but they contract some out to Versus and a handful to ESPN. I think, I could be wrong.

@Stalkingerinandrews

ironic, my exact reaction was "fuck, Pam Ward and Ray Bentley doing the Badgers game. i guess I'll turn the radio broadcast on."

So very, very sad.

The loud "Fuck you, WHAS" came from Bristol, CT for the second straight week. PPV and ESPN360.com for VaTech-FSU this week. What? No love for the ACC in Louvul?
