One of my favorite genre of typo is when large sites prematurely post results to big games, even though the entire world knows the real result. The best example of this happened last night when MLB.com decided to hit publish on a pre-made story, and didn't bother to watch the bottom of the ninth....

Most networks work very well together in cross promotion, but FOX took it to another level this week. The network put up billboards in various cities throughout the U.S., and on it they hyped Brett Favre's first game against his former team. But they forgot one thing, the game isn't on FOX this weekend....it's on ESPN, Monday Night. Via KSK....


I guess you could argue that the studio crew will be talking about the game on Sunday morning, but it seems like something they decided to do before the season. ESPN probably isn't complaining.

I try to pick and choose these days when it comes to Erin Andrews, but I couldn't pass on this one. Fanhouse caught a camera angle of the sideline princess that has to be seen to be believed, but first some back ground....

Monday during the College World Series game between Arkansas and LSU, ESPN2 had a bit of a snafu with their footage of America's sideline princess. For 20-30 seconds the network, according to a viewer who e-mailed the screen grab on the right, switched to a camera angle that featured a, how shall we put this delicately, derrière shot of Ms. Andrews. Doubtless ESPN has an awful lot of cameras covering the on-field action, but this one ... not so much.

Hmmm....sound intriguing. So what can I see this angle that they speak of?

Screening Fail On ESPN2 Interactive Tuesday (Deadspin)

There are a lot of gimmicks on blogs that just never pan out, but I'm going to go out on a limb and say that this one will. The website Mr.SEC has matched the fact that Erin Andrews drives page views, with the fact that there's no photo collections on the Internet, to give you every EA picture that you can think of in one place. To the tune of 750 images!

Over the past few months, we here at MrSEC.com noticed something: whenever we made any kind of mention of ESPN sideline hottie Erin Andrews, our pageviews went through the roof.

Being red-blooded American males, we started scanning the web for a full-blown Erin Andrews site. There wasn’t one… not of major size anyway.

Our conclusions:

1. Erin Andrews draws readers.
2. There was no massive Erin Andrews site on the web.

That may seem to lead to a simple decision, but there was a lot of internal debate.

“We can’t make an Erin Andrews shrine. This is a sports site.”

“Oh, yeah, well ESPN uses her and they’re all sports.”

“But this is about SEC sports.”

“Oh, yeah, well she went to Florida.”

Pretty genius if you ask me. They really don't have to do anything more, and over time they'll probably be bumped to the front of the line on Google. I'm personally EA'ed out these days, but if you have the time, check out the photos through the link below.

Now this is pretty random, yet also pretty funny. MMAer Jeff Monson, was the subject of a piece for ESPN the Mag recently, and not only did he say that he considered himself an anarchist, he actually posed for a photo with a spray paint can near a recently graffiti'd logo of an anarchist "A". ESPN credited the artwork to Monson, and naturally he now faces up to 10 years in prison. Via MMA Junkie....

A November 2008 photo taken by ESPN The Magazine has led to a graffiti charge for veteran fighter and former top UFC heavyweight contender Jeff Monson.

A warrant has been issued for the 37-year-old political activist after the magazine snapped an image of Monson allegedly tagging Washington state's Capitol with an anarchy symbol.

Monson faces up to 10 years in prison and or a $20,000 fine if convicted of the first-degree malicious mischief charge.

The warrant was issued on Wednesday, according to The Olympian, which also reported a $19,000 cleaning bill for the spray-painted symbol.

ESPN The Magazine ran a story on Monson and his involvement in the Olympia anarchist movement in its Dec. 29 edition. The piece included a picture of him holding a spray-paint can, and a photo caption identified Monson as the person responsible for creating the mark.

How about that for a kick in the ass? Most anarchists I know, and I know a ton, probably wouldn't be caught dead doing an interview for ESPN, so he sort of had it coming if you ask me. I kid, I kid.

Versus, like any company these days, is trying everything they can do to get press and notierity on the cheap. They've recently started a marketing campaign for the network that has people sending in photos with their best use of the letter "V" for their logo. Basically various folks flashing the peace sign.

So what's wrong with that you ask? Well just the fact that they are calling it "Show Me Your V". Puck Daddy has some of the more interesting reactions...

Puck Daddy reader Tim: "In case you missed it, they have a new promotion that calls for its viewers to send in 'extreme' pictures of themselves. The promotion is called 'Show Me Your V'. The idea is for the people to be showing acts of vengeance, versatility... whatever ... while flashing the hippie-gang-sign. With the roughnecks that watch that station, there will be some interesting and literal interpretations of 'Show Me Your V'. Honestly, that's the most hilariously flawed promotional name I've come across. Leave it to the national broadcaster of the NHL."

Oh, c'mon, it's not that bad ... is it?

On the one hand ... "Show Me Your V?" Maybe our minds are so far in the gutter that we've got rats scurrying across them, but even Roger Moore's James Bond would believe this double entendre is a tad too telegraphed.

That's not a bad assessment, but "Show Me Your V" is almost so bad and obvious, that it's even more funny. I mean the pictures are completely lame, and no aspiring model has taken it to the next level as of yet, so maybe they're trying to be serious with this whole thing.

Not scary in the sense that she looks bad, but when I clicked on a link to her newest business endeavor, A few months back, Deadspin noted that EA was working with a company called Replay Sports that sells photos from various College teams throughout the Country. They are using her for their holiday push (as seen above), but when I clicked on a link via TBL, I wasn't quite ready for her to appear on screen and start yelling at me about pictures.

Random, but seemingly a great business strategy. She's one of the hottest people on the Internet, at least in the Sports World, and the photos the site offers are actually pretty sweet. Well sort of....I don't know how many Florida International pics they're going to sell.

We've come to another one of those pesky AA travel days when I'm unfortunately out of the loop for an entire day. Lucky for you, I've come up with the perfect post. Well scratch that, The Sports Hernia has. I give you Erin Andrews and a fourth grader....

Sorry for the The Internet has caused a lot of grief for athletes and media members over the past few years. On of the more famous, or rather infamous, incidents was Stuart Scott's texting habits during a Super Bowl party, and since then, Scott has done just about everything he can to stay out of the limelight (well besides that whole karaoke thing).

Well according to a story relayed to Deadspin from a cameraman at last Monday's Vikings-Saints game, Stuart doesn't want you taking pictures of him while he's working. Even if you're not REALLY taking pictures of him talking to a Saints Cheerleader....

Bachman was working the sidelines during the Monday Night Football game in New Orleans and at one point was taking photographs of the stadium crowd from the Vikings sideline which was near the MNF Countdown set. Bachman was standing directly behind Scott, who just so happened to be speaking with a Saints cheerleader at the time. Bachman wasn't photographing him, but given that his lens was pointed in their general direction, it caught Scott's attention. Scott said to Bachman something to the effect of "With the internet now man? Why? All I'm asking is why?" Bachman, startled by the question, tried to tell Scott that he wasn't taking pictures of him, but it initially didn't convince Stu. Bachman said that Stu wasn't testy with him and was quite polite — Stu didn't grab his camera or even demand he stop taking photos — but he was just a little taken aback that Scott would question why he was doing his job to begin with. Bachman said he showed Scott that he was deleting the shot of Stu and the cheerleader (which didn't exist, mind you — Bachman just pushed a button and deleted another photograph to spite him) and Stu said "Cool, cool" and walked away.

Scott, via ESPN media relations, had "no comment" on the incident. Just for some background via other ESPN sources close to the situation: Scott's reaction was in direct response to the "Lemme know" goofiness that caused him such distress.

I've always gone by the assumption that people are smart enough to take into account all the variables of a situation, but maybe that's naive of me. I personally thought the Matt Leinart photos weren't a big deal, and that it was the offseason, but I guess in the case of Stu....it's better safe than sorry. At least he was cool about it. Whether his ego was a bit on display or not.

You just knew something like this was going to happen at some point. I missed the video, but thanks to multiple sleuths around the Internets we have the photographic evidence. Steve was doing a live commercial right before the 8am Sports Center when the camera panned to a dry erase board that displayed the lovely f-word in all its weirdly written glory....


I'm desperately searching for the video at the moment (damn me for recording Mike and Mike in the morning....what am I thinking?), but as soon as it's found I'll put it up. Too funny. Whoever wrote that must have been hella bored and for Steve's sake, I hope that number isn't his ATM pin. According to Deadspin, ESPN has acknowledged the situation and apparently isn't happy. I'm thinking that they're going to get a ton of press online from this today, so it's not as bad as they think.

Also, this would be a good time to remind you that I'll have a running live-blog of the SC Live debut this Monday starting at 9am. There also might be a few surprises earlier than that as well, so it should be extra fun.

You would think it would be hard for a 24-7 Sports Network to run out of stuff to talk about in regards to a subject, but it officially happened to ESPN this morning. First Take decided to dust off the ESPN Photoshop Department (located in the janitor's closet behind Studio D) and put them to work on what Favre would look like in other team's uniforms. Who cares if blogs did this three weeks ago, or that FOX Sports did it as well (complete with taped on heads), the world needs ESPN's take!
