Red Auerbach Was Against Flopping All The Way Back In The 70s
Friday, May 30, 2008
Awesome video from Bullets Forever today of Red Auerbach using Bullets players to demonstrate how coaches are teaching kids how to fall.....
“Now remember, coaches today, in high school, college and pro are teaching the players how to fall. This is unreal! … This segment is not aimed at referees, believe me. It’s aimed at coaches, it’s aimed at players. What are we going to do about it? Let’s clean this thing up. Let’s not hurt the game.”
Amazing....especially with how rough the NBA got in the 80s. Red would be rolling over in his grave if he saw some of the highlights from this years Playoffs. Just ask Sheed.
Flopping? Blame it on Mike Riordan (Bullets Forever)

Lebron James Trusts Delonte, Can Someone Say Dagger?
Sunday, April 27, 2008
I'll save you all the bitching about the Wizards, but I knew that weren't winning this game with West and Gibson hitting threes the way they were. Great game for them and here's the shot that knocked the Wizards out of the Playoffs....
Exactly the same shot that Damon Jones hit against the Wizards in 2005-2006 in overtime to win the Series. Also, Cleveland hit 13 of 28 threes and overrated Lebron James finished with 34 points, 12 Rebounds, 7 Assists and 2 steals. Dagger.

"That Was A Bullseye!"
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
While the Cavs were busy cheating to beat the 76ers last night the Wizards were trying putting together one last gasp for the fourth spot in the East. Now nut shots in the NBA are pretty common, but getting "field goaled" while trying for a layup is something else. Just wait for the replay....
"Ooooooooh!"
Now that is just not right. I can't believe he even finished the game after that one and I love the Buck and Phil empathy.

Phil Chenier Makes Me Uncomfortable
Thursday, March 06, 2008

Obviously I'm based in the DC Area, so I apologize for the number of Wizards clips you've been getting lately, but this one is worth it. I was at the Wiz-Hornets game Sunday and when the Kiss Cam was making it around the arena it stopped on Steve Buckhantz and Phil Chenier. Buck then took off his headset and planted one on Phil's head.
It was hilarious at the time and I wish I had the video, but I think this one is better. Phil returned the favor last night, and I think the "Awkward" tag is appropriate for this one....
That's just creepy. Ugly rumors commence!
(P.S.- I don't know why YouTube isn't putting a photo up, but the video appears to still work.)

Still The Single Best Phrase In Sports
Tuesday, February 26, 2008

If you live in or near Washington DC and you're not using this phrase to ridicule everyone (i.e.- "That girl just denied your advances.....DAGGER!") then you are just not living.
Oh and yes this is a Homer post, but I so needed that game last night after the way the Wizards and Terps have been playing as of late. I love you Steve Buckhantz.....don't ever change!

Nick Young Has A Wonderful Nickname For A Player You've Never Heard Of
Friday, January 18, 2008

Unless you're a DC Sports fan or an NBA head you probably don't know who Oleksiy Pecherov is (foreign, white, tall). Nick "The City" Young had a pretty good game going 5-6 for 12 points and Pecherov added nine in a win over the Knicks, but that was not the highlight of the night.
Nick has gave a new nickname to the 7-footer in the postgame and I don't think I've ever heard a better one for a 7-foot white guy....
That's right everyone....."The White Hole"! Nice outro by Buck as well to close out that cinematic masterpiece. And scene!!!

Antawn Jamison Has Perfect Aim
Friday, January 04, 2008
The Wizards blew out the Bucks on Friday night but that wasn't the only damage they inflicted in Milwaukee. Watch closely as Antawn Jamison tries a cross court pass and nails his target.....not Andre Blatche but a girl and her beer (sorry for the quality but Comcast has yet to try out the widescreen game)....
Did you see how quickly she ran to her seat? Man no apology or anything. And Coke Phil Chenier? And Buckhantz...."Less Filling, Tastes Great" used to be the slogan for Miller Lite not Beast even though they're made by the same company. Come on.

He Did What To Pat Riley?!?!
Thursday, March 01, 2007
Before I show you this video I want you (and him) to know that I love local Wizards Play-by-Play guy Steve Buckhantz. He has coined such terms as "Dagger" and "Backbreaker", and my personal favorite....the subdued "well how do you like that?" after the opposing team does something good.
While he is a great announcer and has the enthusiasm of 10 men......sometimes he gets out of hand. As evidenced after Pat Riley got T'ed up in last nights Wiz-Heat game....
"Jack Neis is keeping a close eye on him.......and he BANGED him."- SB
My favorite part might actually be color-guy Phil Chenier using the words "25th Thousandth Point" discussing Shaq. I still love you Steve.....please don't hate me.
See aren't Double Entendres much more fun than bigotry?!?!?!?!
