did brennaman and davis call previous FOX championship games?

because when i think of pairs to call title game, those two names don't come to mind.

Not only did they call the last two games, Barry Alverez was with them for the Florida-Ohio State and Oklahoma-Boise State games.

As a BYU fan, I'm excited for that team in the booth. Last year was good with Nessler, Griese and Paul McGuire and anything can top the '06 crew of Musberger and Craig James who never talked about the game and kept interviewing Ryan Leaf the whole time it seemed like.

Check the dates of the last couple of games. I thought the championship was THURSDAY, Jan 8?

Some other things I noticed:

- Terry Gannon and David Norrie get 3 games in the bowl season. Zzzzzzzzzzzz. With one of them being the Poinsettia, a game I'm real interested in.

- We get the goodness that is Chris Spielman for 3 games.

- Musberger only gets one game this year, previous years he's had 2 games.

- I guess CBS in more interested in sending their A team to the Sun Bowl cause it is the more interesting matchup.

- Once you find out the ESPN Radio sched AA, can you put it up? I always wanna know what my alternative is.

I feel for any fans of Ole Miss and Texas Tech that can not listen to that game on the radio. The combo of Pat Summerall and Brian Baldinger is the worst of that list, and it's not even remotely close. After watching Arkansas vs Missouri last year, two observations...1)Pat Summerall in the booth is just sad 2)Baldinger obviously doesn't know shit about the goings-on in college football. That pairing sucks and Fox should do better for their brand than to let those two ruin a game.

HAHA. Agree with Tomahawkflop that Summerall was, sadly, a joke last year. It was comical hearing him bungle everything - a sad way for a formerly great announcer to be on his last legs.

BTW Pammy is doing the Independence Bowl - can you say "limited viewership"??

Personally, I find Charles Davis to be about as interesting as an old man's colonoscopy.

I read in the Fort Worth Star Telegram that Rece Davis, Lou Holtz and Mark May will now be calling the Poinsettia Bowl, probably because the matchup is a little more attractive than expected.

At least they gave Pam Ward the best bowl game! AM I RIGHT GUYS?

ESPN definitely needs to put a different crew on the Poinsettia Bowl. Many people think that will be the most interesting non-BCS game. And while somebody mentioned the Davis/May/Holtz crew earlier, I think ESPN should think even bigger. I'd love to put Musberger/Herbstreit out there as an idea, but I doubt they'd go for that. At the very least, I think they should go for Nessler/Griese/Maguire, Blackledge/Patrick, or Franklin/Cunningham. The Poinsettia Bowl is a 'A' game this year - why are they stuck with a 'C' crew?

Agree with Tom. Davis/May/Holtz is zero improvement if that's true. Instead of a boring crew, you get a joke studio crew. Awesome, ESPN.

@ Mike Maloney and Tom: Up until today, Rece Davis, Mark May, and Lou Holtz were penciled in as doing the EagleBank Bowl on The 506 website. That changed today, when, as AA has it, it switched to Gannon and Norrie. I also think that while not out of the realm of possibilities, it is somewhat surprising that ESPN would send an announce team do two bowl games in a 48-hour time span, especially when the games are on opposite sides of the country. So I wouldn't be surprised if there's a switch.

And yes, even though they don't work games during the year, I would much prefer Davis, May, and Holtz to Gannon and Norrie.

And lastly, am I the only one who thinks that Mike Patrick in Las Vegas doing a BYU game is going to result in pure Pammy gold?

It should be a fun bowl season. In my opinion, on paper, it looks better than last year's crop of games. Let's hope I'm right and we have some good games!

Guess having two Toronto natives and a former CFL star cover the International Bowl is interesting. Was this the work of the ESPN masterminds?

According to Clemson's game notes, Craig Bolerjack, Steve Beuerlein, and Dan Fouts will be calling the Gator Bowl, or excuse me, the Konica Minolta Gator Bowl. Anyway, take it for what it's worth I guess.

I believe Lundquist has been announcing the Sun Bowl forever (at least, I remember him announcing it back at least 10 years ago). Saunders has also announced the International Bowl everytime I've caught it on TV. Pretty sure that it's intentional that ESPN is sending 2 Canadians and an ex-CFL player up there so that they can talk about Toronto, Canada, etc. if there is a blowout.

Baldinger is an excellent analyst, as I know from watching him on NFL Network. He's probably mad that FOX has him do beauty pageants ERRRR college bowl games where they don't determine it on the field. AA, what a waste of space. People who watch bowl games under the current system are losers. Give us a playoff already, I'm tired of begging.

They've had the Canadian Trio do the Int'l Bowl each of the past 2 years. It's very intentional.

Seriously, thank g-d the BCS is leaving Fox. Kenny Albert? Matt Vasgersian? Thom Brennaman? Was Ron Pitts not available? Thom Brennaman is more insufferable than an Urban Meyer press conference. Charles Davis can't hold a candle to Gary Danielson or Todd Blackledge. It's really embarassing that these are the best guys Fox can find. The only thing worse would be having Bryant Gumble doing a football game...oh wait...

Although Jesse Palmer was born in Toronto, he calls the old Ottawa suburb of Nepean (now part of the city of Ottawa since amalgamation in 2001) as home. He played most of his amateur football there.

Also, add David Amber to the broadcast team, another Toronto native. It's "aboot" as Canadian of an ESPN broadcast team as you can get, eh?
