ESPN Fantasy Podcast Fights Are Fun

Friday, May 23, 2008

I had no idea that ratings wars and running late were major issues on ESPN Fantasy podcasts, but apparently they are. Reader JK sent me an email stating that I needed to listen to the Football Today podcast and he was right. Listen to this clip as Fantasy Football guy Jeremy Green decides to take umbrage with the Baseball guys, Matthew Berry and Nate someone....

I love how ESPN still posts these little tiffs and that ego line by Berry was priceless even though I have no idea who Jeremy Green is. Fights about Fantasy Sports between people I don't know are so awesome.

(P.S.- Stick around for an even better fight between ESPN employees.)

Jeremy Green is Dennis Green's lesser known, lesser talented brother.

Jeremy Green is Dennis Green's son, not brother. And the whole warring podcasts shtick is a running joke with these guys.

I would like the last 45 seconds of my life back, please.

And does Bristol really only have one place where they can record podcasts? That seems odd.

There have been pseudo-fights between Green and Berry/Ravitz before. It's an alleged long-running joke, but by this point it's just long-running. The meta stuff gets a little old when I need info on a replacement for Ian Snell!

We were deprived of seeing Jeremy Green wave his hands like he's doing sign language.

This is shtick. It's a little more fake heated than usual, but it's definitely an ongoing gag between the two podcasts to have a 'rivalry'.

Funny. I thought that time issues weren't a problem with podcasts, and that ESPN would provide all the channels and bandwidth needed.

Oh, and Matthew Berry is a former writer for Married with Children. I think that explains at least part of his ego.

Although the feud with Jeremy Green is a long-running schtick for Matt and Nate, I often wonder how much of their dislike for Peter Pascarelli and "Baseball Today" is schtick and how much is real.

Not sure if the "fight" is fake or not, but one of my best friends writes for ESPN.com and has assured me that Matthew Berry couldn't be more hated over there. He gives douchebags a bad name.
