Where Have You Gone Charley Steiner?

Monday, May 19, 2008

A great video find by the folks at NESW Sports. Someone decided to piece together all of Charley Steiner's Sports Center laughing breakdowns and throw in a few clips from his commercials. Good times....

It's times like this when I miss the old Sports Center days. Sigh. I hope chasing your MLB announcing dreams was worth it Steiner!

He's better off doing the Dodgers' games.

Oh how I long for the days of Olbermann and Patrick and Kilborn and Steiner. Bob Ley was great. And if I remember correctly, you always knew who was hosting which SportsCenter and when.

I never know who's doing the show now, and I'm always afraid I'm going to turn it on and Stu Scott will be talking about the cool side of the pillow.

Come back ESPN. Come back.

Indeed. Damn, I miss the days when Sportscenter was can't miss TV. Now it's just another crappy show polluting the airwaves.

I was watching the Best Damn 50 Blow-ups the other night and I saw footage of Steiner and some other dude rumbling in a locker room. Great stuff.

Speaking of which, whatever happened to Jack Riley? He was pretty decent as well during those years.

That Y2K promo he was in was pure gold, Jerry.

And the Big Show on Sunday nights was must see TV for me; I never missed it. I was such a fan, that I even bought the book "The Big Show". It seems that Tom Brady was right when he said that the WWL had gone the same way as MTV.

What? You're telling me you don't enjoy the GATORADE Ultimate Highlight Reel, or the BUDWEISER Hotseat or the EARL'S BIG RIGS Motor Minute?

Professional Putz

That should be on his calling card. Lots some brownie points with me though being a shill for the Hankees but thankfully he left since I was honestly worried for his health due to John Sterling taking all the oxygen in the room.
