Michele Tafoya Gets A Local Minnesota Radio Show (Muhahahaha!)
Tuesday, April 21, 2009
I cannot stop laughing at that picture from the Star Tribune. She looks so evil it's ridiculous. Anyway, Michele Tafoya is getting her own radio show, but not on ESPN Radio. The once Mike Tirico Show fill-in is getting a spot on local Minnesota station, CCO Radio. Oh, and she just brought home an adopted baby from Colombia. Seriously....
On Saturday, Tafoya and her husband, Mark Vandersall, brought home an adopted newborn from Colombia after a seven-week stay in that country. On Monday, Tafoya's much-rumored move to WCCO Radio became official when it was announced she would become the host of the station's 3 to 6 p.m. weekday show starting June 1.How's that for random? Good for her though. As far as the radio gig goes, this makes me think that her days at ESPN are numbered. She probably wants to stay closer to home, and this is the first step in that move.
"Life is changing for me in a lot of ways," she said on "The Don Shelby Show," which will move to an earlier slot, 1 to 3 p.m. Shelby and Tafoya will share the mike from 3 to 3:30 p.m., then Tafoya will be at the reins until 6 p.m. Tafoya also will continue on "Monday Night Football" -- she has two years left on that contract -- but was let out of her deal with ESPN Radio, which was to expire in September.
Tafoya will be 'CCO Radio afternoon-drive host (Star Tribune)

I gotta say nice get by WCCO. Being in Minnesota it has been sad watching that and other local stations crumble and layoff veteran talent.
7 weeks of vacation must be nice.
What, there weren't enough needy babies here in the United States to adopt?
Do they allow deep-voiced gorilla faced bimbos to dump beer on people from luxury boxes at that station?
She looks like that fat pie-faced woman from Misery, the one who mangles Jimmy Caan's feet.
Get ready for Boring, Fence-Sitting sports talk radio Minnesota.
WCCO has a news/talk format, thus Ms. Tafoya will do a general-interest show.
Went to high school with Michelle... she was always there with a ready and cheerful smile for EVERYONE ... she was a cheerleader and in student government and as I remember (myself being a band and drama twinkie...LOL) never had a bad thing to say about anyone. Michelle comes from a large loving family and none of the Tafoya's were evil, mean or nasty... it makes me sad that people are so cruel to anyone with successes. She has fought a long uphill battle being a female sportscaster. For her, I believe sports are a lifetime love. She's been involved with sports her entire life.
I would have totally ignored the comments posted before me (in fact I only googled Michelle because I just hear her reporting on Singletary on ESPN on the TV that was on in the other room and thought I would check up on her ... and happened on this site)...Like I said I would have ignored the negative comments but I have to say of all the pictures I have seen in the past few minutes while surfing... this one captures the pure and happy spirit that I remember about her. For what it's worth to any of you... she had always been kind and nice to me and my friends ... we missed he much at the last couple of reunions ... and look forward to seeing her again ... not because she is some big sportscater ... but because she is just Michelle ... an Avistion High School Alumni ... beach girl, cheerleader and fellow Falcon!
Go Michelle!!! We love ya still ;)
Actually AA, that picture was taken after Joe Namath asked Suzy Kolber to kiss him. Tafoya was behind the whole thing.
