Your 2009 Sports Emmy Award Winners Are....

Tuesday, April 28, 2009

Sorry for the abbreviated day, but I've just now been able to get on a computer. The Sports Emmy Awards were held last night in New York, and there were some surprises when the trophies were handed out. NBC won the "President's Trophy" by taking home nine awards and there was even a tie in one of the categories. Terry Bradshaw and Tom Jackson split the title of Outstanding Studio Analyst. Here are the rest of the winners....

OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – STUDIO HOST

* Bob Costas NBC/HBO

OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – PLAY-BY-PLAY

* Jim Nantz CBS

OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – STUDIO ANALYST

* Terry Bradshaw FOX
* Tom Jackson ESPN

OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – SPORTS EVENT ANALYST

* Cris Collinsworth NFL Network / NBC

Jim Natnz? I thought Al Michaels did a much better job this season.

It's clear that there a terribly small pool from which to choose these "outstanding" personalities. That, or there is just an incredible lack of talent.

Tom Jackson and Personality in the same sentence... Weird

I'm sorry...Tom Jackson? For what? Dealing with Chris Berman more than anyone else?

Jim Nantz winning anything other than "Smarmiest Asshat" makes no sense. I'd rather watch/listen to Matt Vasgersian.

WELL deserved for Tom Jackson, who seems to be the forgotten one when I turn on NFL shows on ESPN. They don't need Dilfer, Emmitt, Keyshawn, and others.

Tom has always been solid, insightful, and entertaining.
