The U.S. Stuns Spain In Confed Semis

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

I, and millions of people, gave the United States zero chance against Spain today. Well thanks to an early goal by Jozy Altidore, and some great defense in the second half, the United States ended Spain's fifteen game win streak with a 2-0 win. Here are your highlights....

How David Villa didn't score seven goals today is beyond me, but we'll take it for sure. Great play by Onyewu and Howard, and the Americans' dream run will continue on this Sunday in the Finals, versus the winner of Brazil and South Africa.

You should pull the YouTube video of the BBC commentaries. I love my US soccer but Harkes and Dellacamera are underwhelming.

John Harkes laughing and cheering in the background after both U.S. goals is hilarious.

Harkes should go. He and Landon Donovan but be bedmates or something because the man-crush he has on everything he does is disgusting.

Somewhere, Jack Edwards is muttering about seeing the glory thinking it should have been him in the booth.

A lot of Dellacamera's 'bad' commentary is based off the fact that he's calling it off a monitor. Don't get yourselves wrong, he's by far the best soccer guy in the states.

Harkes tends to be exceptionally hard on the US, and Donovan. Landon's just actually been impressive the past couple games. I don't think Harkes is bad at all. If anything, he tries to be too neutral, like when Steve Tasker does the Bills games on CBS.

This is one of the first soccer games I've ever watched. I guess soccer is okay. If the Americans beat Brasil, that would be pretty exciting. Perhaps I'll be more into it next season when the World Cup comes along. Go Azzurri!
