Ralph Wilson Chooses Chris Berman For HOF Induction
Thursday, June 04, 2009
Chris Berman is a pro at speaking at public, and has done HOF ceremonies before, so this was a natural choice for Bills' owner Ralph Wilson. Berman, a noted Bills fan, will introduce the longtime Bills owner before he is inducted into the hall of fame this August. Via the San Jose Mercury News....
Buffalo Bills owner Ralph Wilson has picked ESPN football broadcaster Chris Berman to introduce him at the Pro Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony in August.Well this seems like a match made in heaven, now doesn't it. Nobody circles the Hall of Fame like Chris Berman!
In announcing his decision Thursday, Wilson said he and Berman have been friends for many years and noted that, "Chris really embodies the Bills fans."
The broadcaster nicknamed "Boomer" has had a soft spot for the Bills during his 30 years at ESPN, and is noted for coining the phrase, "Nobody circles the wagons like the Buffalo Bills."
Wilson, who founded the franchise in 1959, is one of six to be inducted on Aug. 8 in Canton, Ohio. The group includes former Bills defensive end Bruce Smith, who has selected former assistant coach Ted Cottrell to introduce him.

He "embodies" the Bills fan because he is a fat ass.
Just what we need, Boomer dropping schtick on us during the HOF ceremony. Why couldn't Tim Russert have lasted another year? Lord knows he'd love to do the honors and he'd bring a lot more class.
It's pretty sad that Wilson had to resort to a Jets fan to do the introduction. He may as well have gotten Don Shula to do it!
I feel the pathos of Bills fans who have to rely on a Jets fan to induct the only owner the franchise has ever had. This sucks to say the least. It would be like Al Davis inducting Mike Shanahan one day.
I just remember Jim Kelly's painful induction speach years ago when he incorporated Berman's "circling the wagons" rethoric. Berman has used that phrased so much the past 20 years, it has lost all meaning.
Berman is a has-been, as are a lot of the announcers on the WWL (ESPN) and CBS.
Berman and his legion of stooges continue there unimpeded campaign for domination of sports broadcasting in America. Now with a presence on the left coast they are ready to embark on a pincher strategy that will cut to the heart of American sports fans.
Never in my life have I seen such a group of kiss-ash, self promoting, underachieving group of jerks. ESPN SUCKS.
And people wonder why newspapers are falling apart.
