Brian Collins Is A Free Agent
Monday, June 22, 2009
It's random how things work out during the day. Bob Costas says "BGTD" on-air, and then you find out the news that the original person who uttered the term....just got fired (frowny face). Brian Collins, of "Boom Goes The Dynamite" fame, has been let go from his job in Waco, Texas. From Deadspin....
Just two days after Bob Costas used Brian Collins' signature catch phrase, Busted Coverage published an item pointing out that Collins' days as a Waco newscaster might be over. We can confirm that Collins' gig has, indeed, been dynamited. Please to be emailing awfulannouncing@gmail.com as well. One of these days, I will hunt you down Mr. Collins, and we will conduct the interview to end all interviews. Until then my friend....godspeed in your future endeavors.
Collins' "Meet The Team" biography was taken down at KXXV-TV, the ABC affiliate where he worked, and the link to it is no longer active. Collins' last report is datelined May 15, and it was about six Texas car dealerships losing their Chrysler franchises.
When we called the station's newsroom and asked to speak with Collins, we were told that he "no longer works here." The polite woman who answered our call didn't know when he had left the station and had no further information about his future plans. (If you know anything more, please send it in to tips@deadspin.com.)

He sounds like a one-trick pony. Which makes him eminently qualified to take Chris Berman's place.

Since it's an ABC affiliate, maybe he got called up to ESPN.

Maybe he can parlay his job in Waco to a fine career at Mid-Utah Sports!
