Sports Center Is Getting A Makeover, New Intro
Wednesday, April 01, 2009
I don't think they've been with the current look for that long, but the folks at ESPN are sending Sports Center to a stylist and she's coming back looking more dapper than ever! To coincide with the network's new LA digs, ESPN will be changing up the graphics for the show and it will even have a new intro. Here's your first look....
Rock! I don't know how I feel about that song to tell you the truth, but whatever works. The graphics however, look as fancy as ever, and here are a few more screenshots....

Is it just me or does that new theme song sound JUST like something out of F-Zero?

First I thought this was an April Fools Joke (Still kind of believe it, as it's not on ESPN Media Zone). That aside, does this not look a lot like ESPNEWS?
They've essentially been using the same graphics package since 2004 when they first moved to their new HD digs with some minor tweaks here and there in the past five years.
This is certainly a bigger change. The theme music has certainly been sped up with a lot more guitar.
@ Shep
That's probably what they were going for, unification is key after the graphics disaster that was ESPN2 at the beginning.
Still hate the sidebar but like the new bottom line.
This makes me long for the halcion days of one VAN EARL Wright...
Yawn. More focus on appearance will surely lead to a continued down fall in worthwhile content such as scores and highlights. Typical.
Guitar Hero much?
Why do you need "NYY AT BAT" when you already have Top of the 3rd listed in there?
I like this new look a lot, then again I'm always up for an occaisional graphics change. Five years seems like a decent enough stretch IMO. This change seems to take advantage of the fact that they're in HD.
Still looks like shit
It's too busy. There is too much shit going on in those screenshots. What's wrong with keeping things simple and easy to follow?
