Video: Mark Buehrle Throws A Perfect Game, Thanks To An Amazing Assist From Wise
Thursday, July 23, 2009
Mark Buehrle threw a perfect game this afternoon, and while that feat is amazing in its own right, the play that kept it going in the ninth was even more amazing. The first batter of the ninth, Gabe Kapler, sent a drive to the centerfield wall, and Dwayne Wise went up and robbed the would-be first baserunner of the game. Here's your look at the play and the final out....
Just unbelievable performances by both Buehrle and Wise, and an absolutely amazing ending to the 18th Perfect Game thrown in Major League history.

When I saw the note on the ESPN BottomLine ®™&c., I went to my computer to bring up MLB.com's gameday. They had Kapler on second base with a double to lead off the ninth. Then he was gone shortly after Hernandez struck out.

I immediately hate this story because I can only imagine how awful Hawk Harrelson was to listen to.
