Emerald Bowl Open Thread

Saturday, December 27, 2008

Because you can never have enough of Jahvid Best losing his lunch.

Game: Emerald Bowl
Teams: California Golden Bears (8-4) vs. Miami Hurricanes (7-5)
Location: AT&T Park, San Francisco, CA
Start Time: 8 PM EST
Network and Announcers: Joe Tessitore and Rod Gilmore, ESPN
Favorite: Cal (-8.5)
S2N's Pick: The U to cover, Cal to win. This is mostly about the U's defensive studs against Cal's offense. Anything that comes out of Jacory Harris and the Miami offense should be considered a bonus.

22 Comments:

I'll be watching this one intently as a fan of The U. How it turns out is a mystery to me. If the defense shows up, then it will be a good game. If they don't, then Best will go off for 200+ in a Bears domination.

There is more Cal fans at this game, than their own home games.

That Bill Stewart rant gets even more epic every time ESPN replays it.

@ Ted, trust me if Cal keeps Longshore in the game long, The U will win. Longshore is guaranteed an incterception.

Berkley's about eight miles away from the Phone Booth, so this is a de facto home game for the Bears.

If this is a de facto home game...

They should just let people sit in the baseball glove like tightwad hill.

You were right about Longshore, he can't get out of his own way. If Miami can score another TD or two, they could win.

Longshore might be the worst QB I've ever seen for a ranked/contending school.

I am glad that this is Longshore's last game, his play makes me wish Joe Ayoub was still the QB.

@S2N 8:22

I just caught the ad. Same ad agency and same batch of acid as the folks who came up w/ the eyes on stack of bills Geico ads?

Wow. This team just blows at everything.

QB can't throw, running into the kicker, soft defense and now kicker can't make a chip shot.

the announcer is slipping, a few minutes ago, he said "and he just sneaks it through" when talking about the miami kicker cleanly kicking the field goal, and there was no doubt it was good. and as i was typing this, the cal kicker hooked the field goal and he says "just missed it". where is he looking at?

and just now he said with the game tied, "is miami an up and coming team or is cal too good for them?" pammy nomination anyone?

These announcers should be killing Shannon for his clock management. Makes Andy Reid look brilliant.

Better be careful before you criticize Shannon. You don't want the BCA and Sir Charles calling you a racist.

Looks like the Miami coaching staff was influenced by Andy Reid.

A couple quotes for the post-season Pammies.

"Riley stumbles down!" - Joe Tessitore forgetting that Longshore was the QB.

"A little pain party down there." - Joe Tessitore
