New Orleans Bowl Open Thread

Sunday, December 21, 2008

Game: R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl
Teams: Southern Mississippi Eagles (6-6) vs. Troy Trojans (8-4)
Location: Louisiana Superdome, New Orleans, LA
Start: 8:15 PM EST
Network and Announcers: ESPN - Eric Collins and Shaun King
Favorite: Troy (-1.5)
S2N's Pick: Southern Miss, just for fun. I've not seen either of these teams play this season, and I won't start now. This is not a good enough match-up to draw anyone except the biggest college football die-hard or fans of either team.

10 Comments:

From what little I've seen of this, the combo of SMiss's all gold uniforms contrasted with Troy's all maroon uniforms... not easy on the eyes. At least it seems competitive so far.

Hmmm, I missed that. I'm sure we'll see the YouTube video of it before the sun rises again in the east.

By the way, there's a defensive player for Troy named Bear Woods. I sh*t you not (pun intended). He also wears facepaint. What an odd family he must be a part of.

This is actually an intriguing game. 2 high powered offenses from the deep South playing in their backyard. Plus, throw in the nasty injury to the Southern Miss WR and we have ourselves some good TV.

Yeah. Switching to it between commercials of the Sunday Night Football game between the G-Men/Panthers, I saw that injury. Jesus.

I love bowl games! I love the fact that for an entire month, there will be football on every night. That was a fun night of football with the NFL game and the bowl game on during commercials. Two OT games on a Sunday night? Yes please.
