Familar Faces In New Places: Another Anchor Leaves ESPN
Friday, May 25, 2007
Anchor Dave Revsine is leaving ESPN after almost 11 years on the job. Where is he going? Well, unlike an undecided Mike Hall Revsine has decided to head to the Big Ten Network....
By the time the Big Ten Network launches in August, Dave Revsine probably will know the name of the backup free safety at Purdue. Maybe he'll even know his own job title by then. He didn't Thursday.I've always enjoyed Revsine. He's a tad too serious at times, but he never made himself more than the News. It seems like this is just the beginning of Hosts leaving for "actual" news and reporting jobs in lieu of "Hollywood" promotions on ESPN.
"Studio host?" Revsine said. "Man about town?"
Revsine, a Northbrook native and Northwestern alum who is leaving ESPN after 10 years, will be the BTN's lead studio host. He is the network's first on-air hire.

His voice is worse than Simmons'...if that's possible
I'll miss him
Too serious? He was one of the funnier anchors on the station. He was awesome on College Gamenight. I'm gonna miss him. Maybe the WWL will give Scott Reiss that gig after they screwed him over by replacing him with Steve Berthium on Baseball Tonight.
I always liked Revver doing the CFB radio show first with Mel and then with DiNardo and McShane.
I have absolutely zero beef with Revsine. I think he's as solid as solid can be. Doesn't try to be funnier than he is.
"he never made himself more than the News"
This is EXACTLY why he was better than 95% of the anchors that work at ESPN.
It's the Big Ten Network. It's not like anyone will ever hear the guy again.
i thought he was good...had a dry sense of humor
Dave Revsine just became the Big Ten Network's answer to the NFL Network's Rich Eisen: A decent anchor never to be heard from again...
Dave Revsine looks like the Dentist from Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer Christmas Special. Seriously, look it up. You'll agree with me.
Rich Eisen sucks balls. Seriously, can anyone stomach his banality and "better than you" attitude for more than two minutes? What an ass. Revsine is good. Good thing I'm in Big Ten country. About as dry as Van Pelt, but without the lame (if I hear the Johnny Drama reference again I might fly out to Bristol and slice the guy). Way better than Buccigross and his stupid analogies to rock bands. At least we still have Neil Everett and John Anderson. And F Stuart Scott too.
Revsine was such a great anchor for ESPN's college basketball and football coverage. He was funny too without taking anything away from the content of the show. He will be missed dearly.
I'm so getting laid if I wear that shirt this weekend
