FOX Mistakenly Crowns Tebow The Heisman Winner
Monday, December 15, 2008
We all know that Sam Bradford won the Heisman late Saturday night, but apparently FOX Sports didn't get the memo. The network's website had the headline right, but if you take a closer look at the copy, you'll see that the whole article is centered around Tebow winning the award. Here's a screencap via Deadspin....
What probably happened, is that Fox had prepared different pieces ahead of time and when the decision came down, the pulled the wrong one. It is pretty funny that they went as far as to say he's only the second player to win back-to-back Heismans though.

That "You fucked up!" chant in the background you're now hearing is from ESPN headquarters in Bristol.
Fox had it right. The Heisman voters are who fucked up.
One of three things must have happened.
1. AA is right and the people at Fox had an article prepared for three winners and just put up the wrong one. Not likely.
2. The people at Fox (Rupert Murdoch included) have massive Tebowners. A little more likely.
3. Rupert Murdoch is taking this whole "controlling the news" delusion he has a bit too far. Arrr! Avast, ye matey! Someone tell him that he while he can have his cronies at Fox News spin political news all they want, YOU CAN'T CONTROL SPORTS! Hey Rupe! The Greek villages called. They want their idiot back.
BTW, #3 is the most plausible answer...
Give them a break, Fox is pooling all of it's resources together for more quality programming like Secret Millionaire.
I still love the fact that the man presenting the Heisman almost said 1998 instead of 2008.
Pirate Rupert: "All we need to do, arrrrrrr, is to put in the story of the Heisman winner, arrrrr, and pick the wrong one...arrrr, Jim boy."
Tim Tebow is a future NFL bust.
He'll get drafted because of all the Tebowners but he's not a NFL caliber QB.
Actually, Jfien...the most likely thing that happened is what AA put and your option #1. Sorry that your Texas got "screwed" over again by someone not as classy as your awesome school. I am sure your post was trying to be funny, but once again you failed.
Not only did they get the headline right, they nabbed the right poll as well!
Actually, it was just their way of commemorating the 60th anniversary of "Dewey Defeats Truman." Clever historians, those FOX people.
