Corey Hart Gets All Star Bid, Daughter Gets A Beer Bath

Thursday, July 10, 2008

I'm all for celebrating someone's accomplishments. Well except when someone has their infant daughter in his hands at a press conference and the rest of the team runs in the room and sprays him (and the baby) with beer....

Yeah that probably seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm going to guess that they're going to take some heat for that one. That kid is sure going to be traumatized later in life and you can definitely add her to the Erin Andrews' "List of females not to approach with a beer without clearing it with them first". Keep that in mind all you three year olds (attending the University of Wisconsin in 15 years) reading the site.

Some people just do not think before acting. Clearly, the Milwaukee Brewers are such people, because any sort of rational individual would avoid doing that to someone holding such a young kid.

Did anyone ever think that they did not notice the kid in his arms when they burst through the press room door to surprise him? He covered her eyes from the champane/beer and everything was fine. After the game the player said that she was a little scared from all the noise, but that was it. His daughter will remember her dad becoming an all star for the first time the rest of her life.

On the plus side, at least she got a hard lesson about hthe evils of alcohol early on her life.

Did the Brewers not see her as they walked up and popped open the champaigne? The poor girl must have been next to traumatized. Idiots.

"traumatized" -- she won't even remember it tomorrow.
learn the definition of a big word before you try using it!

Traumatized is a big word?

AA is right though...remember when you were molested as a kid Anon? That's why you're an asshole today right?

It's Wisconsin with a team called the Brewers who play in Miller Park. What other place would that happen? Seriously? I say this as a person who lives in Milwaukee. I'm not surprised. A few people put alcohol in baby bottles around here.

they were excited for their teamate...actually care about the guy, so they came in to celebrate...did you expect them to tip toe out the door and say nevermind...seriously, you puritans need to get a life.

I hardly think that his daughter is an Infant...what the video doesn't show is her asking Corey "What's this" while pointing to the microphone...clearly not an infant. Also what you don't apparently hear is one of the brewers saying "watch the kid". They were excited that he was voted in. Corey protected her and I don't think she's going to remember this, let alone be traumatized by it. you all need to get over it.

I blame the Brewer fans stuffing the ballot for an undeserving Hart.

Anonymous said...
Jul 11, 2008, 4:41:00 AM

Why is Hart so undeserving? Look at the stats, he stacks up with all the other guys in the running. The only reason you think he's undeserving is because he and the brewers don't get any media attention and you don't know how well he has done this year. I think it's incredible that a guy from such a small market won vs guys from Houston, New York, Philly, and San Francisco. good for him.

Puritans is the best word to describe these supposedly "high moral" guys...these Puritans remind me of Republicans who are publicly against gay marriage, but are somehow strangely homosexual....Puritans that's my new favorite word.
She is not an infant, but believe me someone is going to have to answer to her mother..

Anonymous said...
Jul 11, 2008, 8:59:00 AM

I am sure her mother is mad. They tend to overreact. Hart protected her from getting hurt. It is no big deal. Have you ever seen what a 2 year old looks like after eating most meals? It's a lot worse than a beer shower.

Jul 11, 2008, 9:15:00 AM

I'd be kicking ass if my 2.5 year old daughter was exposed to that. And the idea that she can't remember? That's ridiculous. Obviously some of you posters don't have kids, or if you do you're sucky parents.

Drinking and celebrating is fine, but who would want their little daughter to smell like beer under any circumstance? Just stupid to defend the actions of those teammates.

haha... alright rhino ear. So when my dad made me do the leg work for him and my grandfather and go down to the basement to grab them a beer, and when i opened it for them and caught a whiff, even took a sip if i felt so inclined, that guaranteed me to a life of f*ck ups and traumatization? C'mon. I may type the occasional run on sentence, but a little bit of beer never hurt anyone.
Kids are always going to be exposed to things you may not necessarily want them to, doesn't make you a bad father. If Hart got his little girl cleaned up, explained what happened, and made sure she was okay, does that make him a bad father still?
F*ck off and die, you window licking retard.

well said, merk. these puritans all remind me of Mrs. Lovejoy from the Simpsons, wailing "Will Somebody Think of the CHILDREN?!?!" Hyper-overprotective parents are one of the very annoying traits of Americans today. God forbid little Billy scrape his knee. That would be awful. Sheesh.

The girl is two. The video also doesn't show his son who appears to be three sitting next too him licking his push-up ice cream and enjoying the beer bath or Cory talking afterward about the event how he's afraid that his son actually liked his first taste of beer.

OK, I'm both a parent and a brewer fan, though no longer in the Midwest. I'm sure the kid was a bit shocked and scared. But kids are much tougher than we give them credit for. She'll be fine. There's a little over reaction here that's unfortunately all too predictable in our country today.

Still can't believe he got voted in over the big market teams.

Jul 11, 2008, 11:05:00 AM

Clearly, merk, you are a fine upstanding citizen and your dad and grandfather should be proud of the respectful person you turned out to be. But, then again, you are probably correct, it wasn't the sips of beer that made you what you are today, it was more likely just a cause of genetics.

Besides, I'm not the one that said the child was traumatized by this. But, is that where we should draw the line? If it doesn't traumatize the kid, then it's okay to do to them otherwise you are being an overprotective gay Republican Bible thumper?

And, just for the record, I didn't say Corey Hart was a bad father. It's not his fault his team did this to his kid. I was saying if I was in Corey Hart's place with my daughter on my lap and about 20 of my friends doused us with beer and champagne, I'd be pretty ticked at my friends. Amazing how some can find an argument in that, but, hey, it's the internets, so what are you going to do?

It was a stupid idea especially since his young daughter and son were right there. These idiots stormed the table and she could have been hurt! If you think this prank was okay, then you're a bigger idiot than these Brewer ballplayers!

Jul 11, 2008, 12:22:00 PM

People will make drama about anything they possibly can as seen here. I think it was absolutly great. They didn't storm the room dive over the table and tackle him to the ground with her in his arms. They probably didn't even see her. It shows what a great team the Brewers are and lets you know that they are more than just coworkers. There is always someone who comes up with the what if. "What if the beer was some how switched and there was poison in the bottle and someone died from this happening". People like this need get a life.

Drunk morons will always defend drunk morons. And whoever said beer never hurt anyone doesn't pay attention to the drunk driving deaths. But I'm sure that's the innocent bystander's fault for not getting out of the damn way.

Way to reach on that one. Relating drunk driving to beer being splashed on a little girl who is being covered by her father.

You guys that are saying this is so terrible, and that the girl is traumatized need to get a life. Like the kid is going to go into shock every time she sees a foaming beer for the rest of her life? And it's freakin Miller Lite or something, which is next to water. And I'm sure next to nothing got in her mouth. She's gotten more alcohol in her system if she's ever taken cough medicine. You haters are just jealous because your guy didn't get in. Or you just like complaining about anything.

Being from wisconsin that is the best way to celebrate..kid in arm or not. Kids get scared by the smallest things. I'm sure seeing a huge group of guys rushing the podium didn't help. Yeah all you haters can say what you want about how that is not right but the matter of the fact is he made it in and the brewers are up and coming and will be in the playoffs this year!!

I like how I get called a puritan or Republican. I'm actually not. And, to save time, I also am not a "fag," a "pinko," or a "Commie." Enough with the names. It's not Hart's fault. I'm not calling him a bad father. Charging a person who is holding a little kid is silly if not dangerous under just about any circumstance, and especially so when they are such big guys. It's unnecessary and shows a lack of common sense.

Jul 11, 2008, 3:35:00 PM

Wow, I didn't intend on starting a whole heated debate.

That girl can't be more 3. If you're 3 and you got alcohol sprayed on you, with guys screaming all around, wouldn't you be frightened? And I said "next to traumatized", as in she was probably crying for awhile. I actually laughed when I first saw the video.

And what's with all of the "you're a republican and puritan" sh!t. I just so happen to be a liberal democrat. lol.

And I'm from Philly and getting back to baseball, I feel that the league leader in homeruns should be in the all-star game. He's not. In fact, Ryan Howard wasn't even on the final ballot.

Anonymous said...
Jul 11, 2008, 4:54:00 PM

The Beer didn't matter, neither did the being frightened, nothing harmful there. It WAS stupid to rush into there and surprise him like that while holding an child. They probably didn't realize the kids were there until they were already in motion.

An any case, it was beer, not HCL, or Plutonium. Relax people

Yes, Ryan Howard certainly should be an All-Star - 83 RBIs! Kosuke Fukudome should not be, it's silly, it's just cause his name is fun and he plays for the cartoon Cubs.

Corey Hart is an All-Star period. I think managers around the league would agree

Jul 11, 2008, 5:14:00 PM

Because most of the Milwaukee Brewers are young, dumb, and have no children, they did not bother to think of the ramifications of celebrating Corey Hart's selection to the All Star Team. If and when they become parents they might get it. What morons! I hope they do not make the playoffs. Their other punishment is they are stuck playing in Milwaukee as opposed to playing for Chicago or St. Louis, both of whom will make the 2008 playoffs.

Anonymous said...
Jul 11, 2008, 5:25:00 PM

The ramifications? It's not like people were hurt or anyone is going to be scared for life. How many children have run full speed into coffee tables, but we still have them in our living and dining rooms...some of the even have sharp corners!!!

For that fact, how many people put their children in a car daily and move at high speeds with complete strangers all around relying solely on these strangers paying attention. I would feel quite comfortable have my sober, this was right after the game and I don't think they drink while they play, friends rush around and celebrate by showering me and the youngins with beer.

Go Brewers! Great beer shower, and may there be many many more.
