There Really IS No Better Explanation David Blaine (The Douchebaggery Scale)

Wednesday, May 09, 2007

Don't know if you are aware, but David Blaine is doing spots for the NBA and NBA TV. Well here's the first one.....

After watching this video it got me thinking about something Signal to Noise and OMDQ brought up in the comments of the Roger Clemens post this past weekend. There should definitely be a Douchebaggery Scale.

Without the scale even in place I'm pretty sure David Blaine ranks about a 92.....whiiiiiich transitions me perfectly into said Douchebaggery Scale. I'm totally copying everyone's favorite topic today (Bill Simmons) and his Unintentional Comedy Scale with this, but I'm going to take a shot at putting this together. (Hey, I didn't say everything he did was bad....just that podcast.)

What do I need from you, you ask? Well, just start throwing names into the comments, or email me your list at AwfulAnnouncing@gmail.com. I'm going to rank said list (hopefully 100 entrants), and whenever someone does something Douchebaggerish....we'll add to the list.

I.E.- Did you see what Rick Dempsey did today? That was at the Chris Berman Level of Douchbaggery.

The possibilities are endless........

UPDATE: Check out the David Blaine-Lebron James Vid here. Can someone begin to explain this one to me? I'm so confused.

Much as any of us may dislike Barry Bonds, what Curt Schilling said about him on WEEI yesterday only ups Curt's already-high rating on the Douchebaggery Scale, not only because Schilling had the stones to say to Congress that he knew nothing about steroids, but also because he had no compunction about being completely, totally wrong by saying Bonds admitted to cheating on his wife and using steroids.

Billy Packer must be on this scale too. I'll have plenty more names after I get back from work tonight.

A handful of Kevin's:

Millar
Brown
Youkilis for that awful goatee
Federline

With those 4, and you could throw in Kevin Maas, Kevin could be the gayest name ever.

I will kill anyone who refers to The Beard of Kevin Youkilis as awful or its bearer as a douchebag.

Kevin Youkilis is like Mozart and I'm like Mozart's friend. No, I'm like Butch Cassidy and Kevin is like Mozart. You try and hurt Mozart, you're gonna get a bullet in your head, courtesy of Butch Cassidy.

Randy Johnson - Child support anyone?
Craig Sager - Met him once, he's a prick.

If I think of anything else I'll post it here...

Rickey Henderson has to be evaluated at some point. I refuse to live in a world in which Colin Cowherd rates less than a 99 on such a scale.

Some other good mile markers on the highway of Douchebaggery:

Shawn Bradley, Buddy Ryan, Joakim Noah, Bill Simmons, Any Gumbel, Dick Vitale, Lee Corso (actually, that guy's my kind of douchebag), Stuart Scott, Pacman Jones, Chris Henry, Jim Rome.

Going out for dinner now. I'm sure I'll think of others.

Oh, Kobe Bryant, Rasheed Wallace, and NORBY.

I don't know if you are watching, but Dick Stockton is conducting the exact opposite of a clinic on the Jazz/Warriors game. He is abysmal.

Apparently his daughter was found to have a brain tumor. Scary stuff.

P.S.- Anyone up for an old fashioned live-blog tomorrow night?

May 9, 2007, 11:12:00 PM

wow.

I feel like a live blog on friday wouldbe better,

thoughts on the warriors, they should have taken at least 1 of these 2, the first they had a 3 to take teh lead and in this game jackson was4-18 and they missed 3 of 4 freethrows down the stretch, the officiating wasalso horrendous.
