Let's Go LBALACUSNAIBA!

I usually stay away from Minor League gimmick posts, but this one has to take the cake. The Long Beach Armada are copying the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim marketing scheme, but taking it to a whole new level.....

"Taking a cue from the Arte Moreno school of marketing, the Long Beach Armada has changed the team's name. It's now the Long Beach Armada of Los Angeles of California of the United States of North America Including Barrow, Alaska. Or for short, LBALACUSNAIBA."
Not only that, but it's two, TWO! marketing plans as one as the team has joined forces with Alaska...
"President/ General Manager David A.Wellenzohn of the Long Beach Armada Professional Baseball team and Mayor Nate Olemaun of Barrow, Alaska announced today an historic partnership by bringing together two great cities to form professional baseballs northernmost franchise sister city. “The Armada are always trying to branch out to draw new fans and with Barrow joining the “team” we have branched as far north as possible."
Pretty crazy, but not nearly as crazy as the time they signed Jose Canseco. And FYI Armada, never trust a place that has given us Trajan Langdon....I'm just saying.

Just say, "Go team" (LA Times)
New Name Is Longest Of Any Professional Sports Team In The World (Long Beach Armada)
Barrow, Alaska on Board (Long Beach Armada)

It gets worse: Carlos Boozer did time in the 49th state, as well. The Duke Ice-Fishing expedition is alive and well, I'm afraid.

Mark Schlereth is from Alaska. Curt Schilling was born here (but left early).

So, yeah... You are lucky you don't get to see the horrible commercials Scott Gomez is in. That guy is a douche (from Alaska!)
