AA's 2008 Mock Draft
Tuesday, June 24, 2008
Hey why not right? Thursday is one of my favorite days of the year and there isn't much going on today outside of a bunch of apologies. Below is my attempt at a Mock Draft but before I get into it here are a few thoughts....
Thought #1: I don't know why, but this draft looks even weaker than the Kwame Brown Draft. If I was picking past spot seven or eight I would just put the names on a dart board and fire randomly.
Thought #2: Most Drafts are heavy on guards but there are about 40 Glen Davis' just sitting at the end of the first/beginning of the second. After the Top Ten there isn't a good NBA point guard out there.
Thought #3: Candidates who could slip: Gallinari, Darrel Arthur, Roy Hibbert and any foreigner that Chad Ford puts in the first round.
Alrighty, now that we've got that out of the way....here's how I see it going down.....
2008 Mock Draft:
1. Bulls- Derrick Rose, PG (Memphis)
2. Heat- Michael Beasley, F (Kansas State)

All that's missing now, AA, are the requisite 'bad pre-Draft Day trade rumors.'
"Hey, Rizz. Could we trade Wally Szczerbiak, Billy Thomas & our #19 pick to Milwaukee for Michael Redd & their #8 pick?"
There is no way the Magic would take Donte Greene. They have no defense or toughness, and Greene is a Rashard Lewis clone who is long and athletic but drifts to the perimeter too much.
Not only would the Cavs never take Robin Lopez at 19 because they have enough big men that can't score, but I have a feeling that Ferry makes some type of move to either trade up for a stud or trade out for a veteran scorer.
Ugh, DeAndre Jordan just screams "waste of millions of dollars." And CDR going at 25? Isn't he the magic elixir every team from 10-30 is trying to get? I think Philly would love to have an actual shooting guard instead of Willie Green.
As a Piston fan, I love this mock draft for the Cavs.
Robin Thicke >>> Robin Lopez
Hunter, Mills & a pick for Webber >> Wally & a pick for anyone
Joe Alexander = Matt Harpring
Although Alexander has a great motor (residual check to Jay Bilas is in the mail) GM Tom Hammond needs to make some deals. I'd trade Villanueva and the #8 pick to move up a few slots. Redd & Mo Williams should also be dealt on Thursday.
p.s. I like your site AA!
I'm happy to know that that draft is commonly referred to as the kwame brown draft, and obviously not in a good way. Thanks MJ!!!!!
As a Pacer fan, I'm actually excited about this draft. They have a chance of actually get some guys to help them.
I see this year as like a Karl Malone type draft year. Someone, maybe a few guys, after the 10th pick are going to be all-stars. The thing is, no one knows who it's going to be.
Karl Malone worked his ass off to get to reach his potential. How can these gms know which one of these kids, mostly teenagers with one year of school, is going to have that kind of work ethic?
Anyhoo, your mock draft is as good as any. What I can't decide is who will be the bigger stiff. Brooks Lopez or Love. I guess Love. No way he can defend in the NBA at any position.
