Hey, It's Jerry Remy Day At Fenway!

Tuesday, June 24, 2008

A salute to Jerry Remy is going to be going on at Fenway before the Red Sox-DBacks game tonight and you're invited! Well, only if you have MLB's Extra Innings package that is. Rem Dawg is being honored for 20 years of calling games for his beloved Sawx and tonight he gets high schoolers singing to him and a pregame tribute....

Tonight, distributors are making NESN's Red Sox pregame show available to MLB Extra Innings subscribers beginning at 6 p.m. EST. This is a special event so that Red Sox fans may enjoy coverage of Jerry Remy Day at Fenway Park and a salute to Jerry for his 20 years of broadcasting Red Sox games.

Tuesday is Jerry Remy Day at Fenway Park, and the Red Sox will include youngsters from the TV analyst’s hometown in the pregame ceremony. Four recent Somerset High School graduates will sing the national anthem, and other town students will present the colors.
There had been rumors of a recent rift between Remy and his booth mate Don Orsillo, but according to Baseball Musings it's Heidi Watney whom he can't stand. Good times! Congrats Remy, and while your antics annoy some, they'll never get old around these parts. We better see some of that air guitar tonight!

Ha unfortunately probably not. That's not to say I don't share some of the opinion around the net though. The guy has burned a lot of bridges lately and that's what is coming to the surface now. I have my own personal issues with him, but I don't find it necessary to air them here.

He's just in the category of Shrutebag and Dana Jacobson these days. Just not going to mention him or his site.

Remy's horrible. Can't believe that crock of $hit known as Red Sox Nation deludes itself into thinking he's a good color guy - if anyone can understand his garbled incomprehensible blabber, good job - the rest of the country can't.

Honestly, beyond all the jokes (which are great... he and Orsillo--McDonough before him--have a great time in the booth) and selling himself out to any and all advertising opportunities (really annoying, especially remdawg.com) he is a great analyst and color guy.

Before you dis red sox nation Brian and others, how about u actually watch every game like red sox nation does and then you'd actually know what kind of an analyst he is. He has the perfect combination of chemistry with Orsillo, humor, and plenty of knowledge about what hes doing.
And don't be jealous of RSN either just cuz the sox r winning now...ur the real crock of shit
and his blabber doesn't exist...its called an accent...u know the thing that distinguishes ur voice...ya
at least watch the guy year round like RSN does before you decide how good or bad of an announcer is...ur an idiot.

Would this explain Brian@8:40 in any way?

I have MLB EI and Remy is one of the worst color guys out there.

Gotta love the completely unspecific haters. All hate, no point.

Remy gives really good analysis of what's happening - picks up signs through the game, comments on the subtleties of how the players are playing (how Manny's front foot changes position depending on what pitch he's expecting, stuff you get almost nowhere else.)

But hey, you don't have to be reasonable or bright to be a hater. You just have to be willing to post unsubstantiated drivel. Welcome to the internet.

Remy is the rare former player-turned-Broadcaster that actually brings knowledge of the game, and its' many nuances, too the booth. Timing is everything...and Remy has it in spades.

I rely on sites like this to enlighten me on the state of announcing league-wide. If I subscribed to MLB I might never leave home(see MegaMarchMadness.) That said, Remy must be up near the top of the list of QUALITY Color guys. I've lost track of how many times his humor has made liquid shoot out me nose.

Hey Anonymous, feel free to keep posting and criticizing me in secret. At least I'm willing to put my name out there and stand up for what I say.

Brian and heef: It's best to try and settle your little tiff the way Shawn Chacon tried to.
