I don't know how hygiene issues affect the lot of you here, so hopefully this one isn't too gross for the morning. I did put up a broken testicle last week though, so this shouldn't be nearly as bad. Apparently Yanks Broadcaster John Sterling was spotted in press dining room at Yankee Stadium doing a little taste testing....
YANKEES radio announcer John Sterling is being called out for foul behavior in the stadium's press dining room. "Sterling has made a habit of walking over to the dessert table and dipping his finger into the ice cream barrel," one stadium worker told us, adding that the play-by-play vet has also used the same tablespoon to repeatedly take samples. During the Boston series, "He wandered over to the cake and pie section, broke off a piece of a cake slice, ate it and wiped his grimy hands on the linen tablecloth, leaving the remainder of the slice for someone else to eat - which indeed happened," our spy continued. A rep for WCBS Radio declined to comment, and a team spokesman said the Yankees "know nothing about it."I can't imagine what the CBS Rep thought when he got that call (if he actually did). He probably thought it was just a prank call and moved on. Anyway, that's downright nasty if true and having visited a few press boxes in my day...not all that surprising.

Sterling/Waldman is the most brutal radio broadcast team I've ever attempted to listen to. Thank goodness I'm not a Yankees fan.

Sterling is a disgrace - on & off the air. He has no credibility & with Waldman and her face for radio, together they are nauseating. God only knows where his fingers were before he decided to dip them into ice cream. He can't get fired soon enough & for the team restore the Yankees broadcasts to a listenable event. He is a buffoon, a joke, and a horrible announcer, let alone a digusting pig.
Are you kidding me? What a filthy pig. it's bad enough he's incompetent at his profession - he is a nauseating slob to boot. If this is true he should be banned from the press room buffet - what a slob.
i guess it could be worse - he could have dipped his slimy, disgusting hands into the ice cream & given Red Sox fan & Clemens shrill Wald - MAN a taste.

You can't make this stuff up! Brings you back to the Dale Berra urinating event, and the Ron Swoboda defacting on the Sparky Lyle birthday cake in the Yankees locker room. HE's a front running, ass kissing stooge - good riddance.
Theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee ice cream barrel is getting fingered!!! Wasn't he in the Sex and the City movie? If not, he should have been, looking like that.

It's embarassing how bad Sterling is. The difference between him and Hawk Harrelson (another guy people like to rip on for many of the same characteristics) is that Sterling actually believes he's a great announcer, and the Yankees egg him on by playing the bite of YAAAAAAANNNNKEEEES WIIIIIIIIIIN after every game they win at home (along with other asinine quotes during the game). Harrelson at least is funny and knows he's no Vin Scully (while calling games for the 2nd team of the 2nd city).
Oh, is Phil Mushnick ever going to have a field day with this one!
Well seeing as this was reported by Page Six of the New York Post, that pretty much assures us all of one thing: this story isn't true.
He scooped back to back, belly to belly. A double dipper for the yankee clipper. A sterling salmonella. Johny germs one.

He's a filthy, disgusting slob - and those are his good traits! The amazing thing is that this humiliating embarrassment won't have any impact on his demented sense of self esteem - this clown actually thinks he's good at what he does! And the Yankees continue to let him drag the brand down - what a joke.
Should WFAN lose the Mets after this season -- as is feared -- the Yankees would simply move down the dial to The Fan. God save us if that ever happens.
Maybe they should have him wash his hands before he enters the press room - kind of like going through airport security Sterling should have to go through hygiene security before he interacts with others. What a pig. Actually, pigs are relatively clean - he's a slob.
I actually prefer sterling/waldman to the YES booth.....although I guess that's not really saying much.
Phenomenal.
