Aikman Finally Decides To Send A Shot Back At Boomer

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Barry Horn of the Dallas Morning News has taken this little spat and just ran with it over the past few days. At first, Troy Aikman decided to take the high road, but after mulling it over another day he has decided to add a little fuel to the fire. Troy was on during his weekly spot with the Dunham & Miller Show on The Ticket in Dallas, when the topic of Esiason came up. Here's what went down as relayed by Horn....

It took a couple of brow-beating, hard-nosed reporter types to get Troy Aikman stirred up over what is now referred to as "The Esiason Affair."

As much as I tried the other day, I couldn't instigate anything. But on his weekly stop with The Ticket's Dunham & Miller show Thursday, Aikman said he would have been upset if criticism of his work during the Cowboys-Cardinals game came from someone he respected. I can't quote Aikman verbatim because I was driving carpool when he said it and Plano police take a dim view of those who write and drive.

Aikman actually has taken Esiason's shot pretty calmly considering Aikman has thrown everything he has into this broadcasting thing. If anything, I would wager he bends over backwards not to favor the Cowboys when they are on Fox. There's really no harsher criticism of a broadcaster than saying he is not honest.
So much for that high road. I would love to get you the exact quote and/or audio but The Ticket's audio and podcasts are all jacked up at the moment, but I'll get it to you as soon as I can. Also, be on the lookout for an apology of sorts from Boomer Esiason come this Sunday. I haven't heard anything per se, but Boomer has yet to mention the feud on his show over at WFAN, and I'd be surprised if this thing went any further. Both networks will probably put a kibosh on the whole thing.

So...what exactly did he say about Boomer, Barry Horn? The only thing I got out of this "article" is that you can't write and drive.

Lemme get this straight - a 27 year vet of reporting in Dallas is:

a) disappointed he couldn't create a story

b) reporting a story of which he has no exact quotes.

keep up the good work Mr. Journalism.

During the interview, Gordon Keith said off air to George Dunham. " I'm digging for diamonds in Uranus!"

Esaiason is a complete jackoff. He's just a jealous putz and a Hall of Fame phony. That's the only Hall of Fame that that schnook will ever get into, by the way.

Boomer and Carton have been commenting on this all week on their show, he's not backing off his comments, and he's right - Aikman is a homer for Dallas, and he's still a paid "advisor" for the team.

Aikman took "the high road"?
Didn't your blog have a post about Aikman thanking Boomer for watching Fox? Sure doesn't sound like he's been quiet or taking "the high road" to me.
Thanks for your bias though.
Hope your stupid sox lose now.
