NFL Open Thread - Week 7 Early Games

Sunday, October 19, 2008

This is the grill of Buffalo running back Marshawn Lynch, whose team hosts the San Diego Chargers in the best of the early games on CBS, which holds today's doubleheader. I have that game and San Francisco heading to New Jersey to play the Giants on TV.

Your NFL Announcing Schedule and Maps For Week 7

CBS:

San Diego at Buffalo
- Greg Gumbel, Dan Dierdorf
Pittsburgh at Cincinnati - Kevin Harlan, Rich Gannon
Tennessee at Kansas City - Gus Johnson, Steve Tasker
Baltimore at Miami - Bill Macatee, Steve Beuerlein

Fox:

San Francisco at New York Giants - Dick Stockton, Troy Aikman, Pam Oliver
Dallas at St. Louis - Kenny Albert, Daryl Johnston, Tony Siragusa
New Orleans at Carolina - Matt Vasgersian, Brian Baldinger, Brian Billick, Laura Okmin
Minnesota at Chicago - Sam Rosen, Tim Ryan, Charissa Thompson

Requests from you wonderful people in the comments section:

1) If anyone is stuck with Tennessee and Kansas City, please enlighten us on how GuJo keeps it entertaining for you.
2) Since Charissa Thompson is making a move as the new "it" sideline reporter, clue me in if she's all that and a bag of chips or just blah.

Chris Mortenson reported that Tony Romo would be the 3rd quarterback this morning on ESPN.

Jay Glazer said that the report on another network was incorrect and Romo will be the backup.

Now ESPN has changed their story, that sources close to Ed Werder report that Romo will be backup.

"The Buffalo Bills will be headed to London after this game to take on the New Orleans Saints. If you were the Chargers, would you be concerned dealing with this long trip?" - Greg Gumbel, confused as to what team's leaving the country.

"being 0-6 has hit them across head" - Kevin Harlan on the Bengals

"theyve been inconsistent in all phases" - Rich Gannon, no being 0-6 means yourre consistently bad

"theyre in a tight bunch" - Gannon
on the Steelers formation

I was supposed to get G-Men/9ers, and was looking forward to seein my boy VD now that he's healthy... But Fox decided to show the Roy Williams Monopoly instead.

And CBS with the MIA "Paper Planes" Remix at the bump... Theres no way Macatee or Beurlein had any idea what it was.

Brandon Jacobs is hard to tackle, but the Niners suck at tackling too.

7-0, G-men.

Sam Rosen as Fox goes to commercial: "Lions and Bears the rivalry continues..."

I know my Vikings are struggling, but please don't call them the Lions, Sam. Also, Charissa made was on screen a bit ago, sporting the glasses...HOT.

Macatee is the CBS Joe Buck...
In the most mundane voice ever.
"Here come the Dolphins. [Pause. Pause. Pause.] Sack. [Pause. Pause. Pause.] Fumble."

Then, "We have the Wild Cat and now the option- we're going back in time."

If youre 0-6, maybe the punter should have had plenty of practice, but Cincy's just had a 15 yd shank.

"Rothlesberger is like a young Brett Favre" - Gannon, so does that mean in 15 yrs we get the annual retirement drama ?

If you have Brandon Jacobs on your fantasy team, you're having a good day so far.

14-0, Big Blue.

And then Chad threw a TD pass... To the guys in purple.
T-Sizzle housed it, and Frank Walker has the best non-scoring player celebration ever, jumping up and sitting on Suggs's shoulders for about 20 seconds.

Beurlein: "There was a penalty called. We couldn't hear what it was."

That's because he was too busy not shutting the hell up. And the worst part was half of it was stuttering.

1:30 left in 1st half, and Cincy just ran its first play in Steelers territory. When does the Marvin Lewis getting fired pool start ?

Hope you can get this screen grab: At the end of the brief time CBS did broadcast the Bills-Chargers game, they showed a fan with a great "Unplug the Chargers!" sign -- and then the power went out again, and the network is back to Steelers-Benglas.

The still image of that sign hung frozen on the screen before the network blacked out, so I hope someone catches it...

Tony Siragusa: The Rams better not let this team (the Cowboys) get some confidence or momentum or they COULD lose this game.
