FOX's On-Field Mics Are Great At Picking Up Curses

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Sorry about not getting the open thread up, I had to run an errand (pick up drugs) in Philly of all places, and couldn't get Internet access. I'll tell you this much....watching a World Series game in a city like that is a damn good time.

Anyway, the reason for this post is that one AA reader happened to notice that the FOX on-field mics were picking up an awful lot of players and coaches cursing during Game One last night. Hell they even caught a random guy yelling, "get out of here, goddammit," at one point....

I still don't know why networks like can't bleep things like that out, but I love when the cameras catch moments like that. Good work FOX. Terrible work on everything else, but great job on picking up all of those swears.

Are you saying that you didn't care for the interview with the Taco Bell head guy???

Too funny.

On a completely unrelated note, Chris Mortensen just wrapped up an interview on KJR-AM in Seattle, it will be archived, I'll find it for you guys but he does talk about Jay Glazer.

I only caught the parts where he said "Jay is a great reporter, but we didn't think Brett would do something like that." or something similar.

And of course, the Panthers and Steelers are Super Bowl bound according to him.

So, Brian, you picked up drugs in Philadelphia? I'm not with the police, but I still want to know if they were legal. I'm worried about you.

Sorry. I forgot to ask if it was for you or for someone else. Maybe someone is really sick you need to take care of. If this is why you left last night, then I am truly sorry.

I wonder if a screenshot exists of Joe Buck leaning back in his chair in the bottom of the 8th, or whenever it was towards the end of the game. It just seemed so unprofessional.

espn/abc runs everything on a 5 second delay, after janet jackson and all, right? I hear them mute for a split-second a lot, especially in baseball and basketball.

YES! Concerning Joe Buck leaning back... It looked really bad...

I slouch constantly, and I remember being told ad nauseaum to sit straight in my chair.

Joe Buck is a bad example for our children

Tip: You could set up the open thread ahead of time and set the post time to when you want the open thread to go live. It shouldn't actually post until that time.

Great job by Fox not cutting out of the pitching coach recording and missing the call on Crawford's home run. At least the crowd shots were not a total distraction

that was Chase Utley saying that line...the third base mic picked it up...he said it because the pitcher tried to pick him off at 1st 2nd and 3rd
