A Sneak Peek At The Polamalu "Mean Joe Greene" Coke Ad
Tuesday, January 27, 2009
Mentioned last week that Coke was planning on recreating the Mean Joe Greene ad from the 70s with Troy Polamalu, and First Cuts has your first look at the spot and some behind the scenes footage. If you want to pretend to be surprised with the commercial, don't click below....
Looks pretty spot on, and I still think it's a great idea. Polamalu's dead pan deliver is even pretty Mean Joe'ish as well. It'll be interesting to see the final product on Sunday.

How could it possibly backfire in their face? Even if it sucks, people will still be talking about it which is what they want anyway.
It should be interesting to see it on Sunday and the twist. Wonder if Coke Zero will remake this commercial too:

Early guess, the long hair is a wig, and he tosses that to the kid.
I'm curious to see how they twist it. And for them to take an iconic commercial like the Mean Joe Greene ad, and twist it around like this, it better be pretty damn good because even though it is the same company, trying to re-create one of the most famous ads period with a twist takes balls. It will either be good, or it will completely backfire in their face.
