Erin Andrews On Blog Show

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

Erin Andrews was in DC for the Scripps National Spelling Bee this past Friday, so the Blog Show decided to try and get the Internet sensation (well blogging sensation) on the show. She agreed.

Watch as the guys (try to) act cool around her, talk to her about people grabbing her, and telling her to start a blog.

Wow, I'm going to be honest here but that Steinz line about posting photos in the workout clothes kind of creeped me out. I love you DS, but that one was a little out of left field. Anywho, she really seems like a genuinely good person (and she wonders why everyone is in love with her?) and that was a great interview.

Blog Show No. 51: ESPN’s Erin Andrews (Mister Irrelevant)

I always have to chuckle when I hear somebody say "X seems like a genuinely good person". As if they actually think they could detect if that person wasn't genuinely nice and only putting on a front.

Every single human being acts like a different person when they are in public. Erin Andrews is no different. She may be evil, she may not be. But there is really no way for us to know that by observing her demeanor when she knows damn well she's being watched and judged.

Let's not be naive here.

@daniel

I was there...

she sat and chatted with Steinz and I when we ran into her at starbucks... she spent about 10 minutes with us and we still had an hour before the interview was scheduled to start...

if she was putting on an "act" she's a damn good actress...

some people are genuinly nice... and after my interactions with her... I'd say Erin Andrews is one of those people...

Ten minutes is hardly enough to judge. Ms. Andrews may very well be a nice person, there just isn't any real evidence either way.

Think about it this way: have you ever had a boss or a co-worker that you really couldn't stand, but you had to get along with them for your job's sake, so around them you never let your true feelings show? Always being polite and friendly to them, no sarcasm or pointed criticism? And did they buy it?

What I was trying to say is that saying "she seems like a genuinely nice person" is worth absolutely nothing. She could be, she could not be. None of us can tell the difference, and those of us who claim we can only look foolish to the others. TEN MINUTES? You think you can get a feeling for what somebody is really like in ten minutes?

I act a certain way around my family. Another way around my male friends. Another way around my romantic interests. Another way around my co-workers. Another way around my boss. Another way around the people I go to church with. And another way around my nieces. I generally do not let these people see how I am with other groups, because I am trying to project an image here of how I hope they will think of me, and naturally it isn't beneficial to have them all have the same image of me. You do it too. Everybody does, everybody on the entire planet. NOBODY is their natural selves all the time, towards everybody.

Erin Andrews is just like us. She wants the viewers to have an image of her that is nice and unassuming and loves sports. Because hey, that's appealing to us guys, and so it boosts her stock. She may actually be like that. She may be a complete witch.

Only she knows for sure.

1) Those guys were like scared puppies.

2) Why do bloggers constantly talk about blogs? I'm not predisposed to hating blogs (and I obviously don't if I visit this site), but that behavior rubs me the wrong way. Just like bloggers and/or commenters rip on the egos of Simmons, McCarver, Mariotti, etc., I have to say, "Get over yourselves, guys" to several of you bloggers out there.

Anyone else feel like daniel is way out of line here? This is EA we are talking about...

I don't think Daniel is out of line here in the least. He made some very valid and well thought points that some cannot see the logic behind because they are blinded with lust for this woman. It's comical (and kind of sad) the way some of you are so obsessed with EA and carry on like she's the greatest thing ever in the history of the universe.

Nice awkward end to the interview.

"I don't think people would come." (to her blog)

"Cool! Thanks for coming!"

How about reassuring her? Jeez!
