KG And The Celts Slam Home Game One

Friday, June 06, 2008

The first half was rather pedestrian but after a supposed Pierce knee injury and Willis Reed-like return (nowhere near the same though) it picked up. That return energized the crowd and ultimately the Celtics as role players like PJ Brown and Leon Powe stepped up. It was KG who inserted the dagger though....

Kobe seemed to be out of it the whole game and 9-26 shooting just isn't going to get it done. The Lakers just couldn't keep up with the level of play after Pierce returned and Garnett just looked hungry. Great Game One and I fully expect Kobe to come with the fury in Game Two. Hopefully the rest of the Series plays out exactly the same as far as close game and intensity.

Great live blog. Just one comment though that might make me happier reading along with the fans.

Can we just get block all the haters who post in the comments? Comments like "Who the hell cares about these two teams." and "ooh, NBA, doesn't do it for me" really piss me off. Go watch your baseball or college lacrosse and leave us roundball fans alone to enjoy the game.

Thanks.

Not sure I'd go as far as blocking them, but I fully agree with the sentiment. If you don't give a shit about it, why the hell are you posting in a thread dedicated to it just to say you don't give a shit?

I appreciate the sentiment guys, but I'm not one for blocking people. If they want to make an ass of themselves I have every confidence the commenters like you will put them in their place.

I'm from one country with no broadcast of the Finals, so nba.com gave us a link to watch the game with no commercial breaks... and I can hear the announcers talking off the air! Also, the interviews prior to 2nd/4th qtrs are recorded during the break, so I had to watch that twice.

The Lakers ice cold stretch in the 4th Q was the difference. I predict the Lakers will win 4 in a row.

Paul Pierce is a fraud. What a joke.

Thank goodness that parenthetical was put in, because comparing Pierce's return to Willis Reed would be a ridiculous overstatement.

I'm tending to side more with Phil Jackson on the whole situation. Pierce showed very little indication of being hurt during the 4th.

I'm sure the trifecta of Breen, Van Gundy and Jackson literally self-imploded when Pierce returned. Happily, Mike Tirico and Hubie Brown kept the issue under control.

Garnett looks hungry in a preseason game, dude almost cost them down the stretch missing 9 straight shot. I also can't even look at Paul Pierce anymore without snickering, he's got a career in Hollywood after that game.

Enough with the PP-bashing, already. The dude is a warrior...if he goes down and stays down then something is REALLY wrong.

It was inevitable that the Willis comparison would be made upon PPs' return to the game. That "Cap'n Obvious" Mark J. was the one who said it was a forgone conclusion. Aaarrrggghhhh!
