Mike Francesa Likes Brandon Inge. A Lot.

Tuesday, March 25, 2008

A caller mentioned to Mike and the Mad Dog that the Mets should look into trading for the Tigers' Brandon Inge. That doesn't seem like a bad idea to me, and apparently Mike agrees....

(Thanks to CD for sending this clip my way.)

The word, in English, would be "agreement."

Go ahead Mets, please take him off our hands. Have fun watching him chase slider away after slider away in 2 strike counts. It is so easy for pitchers to put him away it's not even funny. Yeah he makes some flashy plays, but he makes a ton of errors. Take his contract too while your at it, because God knows he's overpaid.

the caller should have asked at the end "how much do u like him?"

"A caller mentioned to Mike and the Mad Dog that the Mets should look into trading for the Tigers' Brandon Inge."

Five minute later the following crawl ran on ESPN's bottom line: ESPN.com's Buster Olney has learned that the Mets may be interested in trading for Brandon Inge.

You laugh. It wouldn't be the first time ESPN ran with a story on a "New York rumor" with about as much substance to it.

I've known Brandon Inge since he was just a pup. He's a good kid, from a good family(I used to play and coach rec league softball with his parents), and the Mets would do well to pick him up. And considering he's a converted catcher, the amount of errors he commits shouldn't really be all that surprising, should it?

Brandon Inge has a cult following up here comparable to what Darren McCarty used to when he was in his heyday with the Wings. I'm with Joe D on this, but he's not gonna get traded because he may get some added PT with the Granderson injury (maybe in center or left field).

I love how they take this guy's random trade idea and actually consider that he has some sort of inside info that the Tigers are willing to trade Inge.

Who sucks more: Inge, Freanassaa, or that other idiot.

Before I resume laughing uncontrollably, Anon 5:03, that caller wasn't that random because the Tigers wanted to trade Inge right after the Cabrera trade, and couldn't find any takers, especially not for a needed bullpen arm. I couldn't keep track of Francesa. Was that 9 or 10 times he said he liked Brandon Inge a lot? Dude, send a text message or 100 to him if you like him that much.

As a Mets fan who listens to their show on stream and on TV, Francessa has it out for Wright when it comes to his defense. He fails to notice how much David has improved the past two seasons and he was already considered a good fielder with the Scott Rolen comparisons, though I'm not going to say he completely deserved that GG. He had one bad defensive stretch his first full season and Francessa has failed to relinquish his idea of moving him to 1B.

BTW, this hardly tops Francessa's man crushes on Bernie Williams, Mariano Rivera, Nick Johnson, or even Jay Gibbons.
