The Women's Basketball Tournament Is Exciting Isn't It?
Monday, March 24, 2008
I'm not posting this to poke fun at Women's Sports in any, but just to point out how having a Studio Team with no energy doesn't do it any favors. Sure the Women's Tourney only had two upsets outside of the 8-9 matchups and the top three seeds and each region won by an average of just under 31 points, but seriously ladies....give me something to work with here....
Kara Lawson has to be just about the most boring person on the planet. Stacey Dales was trying, but I just about fell asleep by the time she started talking about scrappiness. I don't care what the Sport is, can we get at least some people who are the least bit excited to be making six figures and talking about games?

Unfortunately, they are pretty boring. But you know who's not boring?

But yeah, Kara Lawson sucks.
There is no ignorance when it comes to the women's game. I've watched a few games when it gets to the regional semifinals or the final four. But you can't just bank on exciting matchups to sell your game when your analysts can't even get that interested enough to break down the action. You don't need an asshole like Screamin' A but you can have someone knowledge with a little flair like Doug Gottlieb to give the analysis some kind of buzz. Stacey Dales tries but Kara Lawson is like watching mold form on the side of house --- slow and horribly uninteresting.

Vernon Wells' awful run on Baseball Tonight would beg to differ.
Would Stacey naked on the set help?
who's cheerios did Wingo piss in to get stuck with that gig?

Add Erin Andrews and Britta Merwin with the weather forecasts and you've got yourself a deal. That'd be the only way I'd watch chick basketball. Yawn.
Quick, without looking, let the first 10 poeple tell me who won the Women's tournament last year? If it wasn't for Don Imus, would anyone know there was such a tournament?
well, since it is da Leader, maybe an over the top obnoxious lady cheese doodle?
women's basketball and sports overall suffers from ignorance from common sports fans who have no interest or worse, which is quite sad, especially since a couple years ago the Lady Terps trounced UNC then Duke to win it all, and was much more exciting then the bore fest that was Florida winning the men's title
