I rather enjoy Nick Faldo on CBS and the Golf Channel, but it seems he can occasionally go a bit too far in his critiques. The analyst recently switched from Nike to Adidas-Taylor made and he went into a lengthy explanation of how Nike's products are inferior (specifically golf balls).
Faldo apologized a hole later saying that his comments "lacked good judgement", but that wasn't enough as the Golf Channel felt the need to release a statement today....
Golf Channel also issued a statement, which read in part, "His opinions do not always reflect those of the Golf Channel. In this particular instance ... using the Golf Channel in this context was not appropriate." Nike Golf Dir of PR Beth Gast: "These comments were all the more inappropriate having come just days after he signed with TaylorMade-adidas. He has apologized on-air and we consider this isolated incident as closed."I guess it's a bit sketchy when he just switched products a few days before the comments, and especially when you consider Nike's Golden Boy was ripping up the competition over the weekend. While it may be true, TV airwaves aren't the place to make a pitch for your new sponsor.
The Golf Channel just isn't having a good past month or so are they?
