How Can A Basketball Game Be Canceled Due To Rain?
Friday, February 22, 2008
It was nasty here in the DC area, so it took me forever to get back to AA HQ this morning. Well apparently it was "worse" in Atlanta....
ATLANTA (AP) -The game between Virginia and Georgia Tech was called off Thursday night because of a leaking roof at Alexander Memorial Coliseum.Umm, that's not good. I guess it was good to cancel the game, but you might want to get that fixed for future games.
Georgia Tech athletic director Dan Radakovich said it had not been decided if the teams could reschedule the Atlantic Coast Conference matchup.
With the court wet in the lane near Georgia Tech's bench, officials first postponed the tip-off for 20 minutes. By 7:30 p.m., however, the game originally scheduled for 7 p.m. was postponed indefinitely because the maintenance crew couldn't guarantee the leaks would stop.
Weather forecasts called for between 2 and 3 inches of rain in metropolitan Atlanta.
11 Comments:
Georgia Tech football = Unable to hold spring practice game, as the team has too few players.
Georgia Tech basketball = Cancels game due to indoor rainout.
Georgia Tech athletics = Yikes.
Didn't this happen in a Celtics preseason game this past year?
Last Fall the Georgia Governor prayed for rain. I'd blame him for this...
By "AA HQ" you mean your mom's basement right?
Just checking.
Gotta blame it on something ...
(insert chest bump from 1988 here)
So needless to say, it was "raining" three's there last night?
I'll see myself out.
Didn't this happen to a UVa-Mich. St. game a few years back?
noce- no he means his "real job" remember he likes to waste his companies resources
Rain cancelled a Texas Tech basketball game. Since it was chick basketball, no one cared.
Countdown to the "sucessful" and "profitable" GT athletic dept. going to the University, hat in hand, asking for some money to fix this problem in 3... 2... 1...
Hey, as a Virginia fan, I'm happy. They didn't lose, right?
