Someone Get Mike Patrick His Line Please (Updated)
Wednesday, February 13, 2008
Mike Patrick continues to blow my mind every single broadcast. This time it happened only 10 seconds in. Wait for it...waiiiiit for it...
The best part is how the producer feeds him the line and he actually thanks him. Oh and I love those 80s prescription automatic tint glasses as well. Nice touch Mike!
(Be sure to check out Mister Irrelevant's post on Douchebag Smurf as well.)
Oh and just for the hell of it.....I'm pretty sure Ron Pawlus played Football for Notre Dame in the 90s, but I could be wrong....

Yanked already. ESPN is wise to your tomfoolery, AA.
Hmm...it's playing on YouTube...not the site. I'll fix that shortly. Love you ESPN!
Anybody else notice the pink eye he had during this opening monologue??
You know(and I preface this by saying I have personal experience with this happening to both my father and mother), it's entirely possible that Patrick's heart attack a couple or so years back has something to do with his lapses in memory, and whatever else is happening with him.
removed by the owner??? can i get a re up?
It's coming it's coming.

Those glasses are special Duke colored glasses available only to employees of the WWL.
Did any body notice in the first half that Stacey Dales was talking at the same end of the court as the Duke player attempting foul shots ?. You could see her hand moving on the wide shot. This is from a MD alum, so I want the Dookies to lose, just something I noticed.
Is Vitale not allowed to raise his voice because of the surgery ? He seems to have turned the volume down.
What's with the ND-CT cutins ?, not like the WWL favors certain teams or anything.
there should be the Mike Patrick Awards for great comments made during the college basketball season
Rough game for our Terps AA. We need to come out and get the Seminoles on Friday though!
Who knew BluBlockers still existed? I think he got those glasses out of the checkout lane at Food Lion.
@jg:
At the beginning of the second half of the Spurs-Celtics game Sunday, Brian Scalabrine almost knocked down Michele Tafoya inbounding the ball.
@rick james
Thanx for the info, it was even stranger now that I think about it, because Dales is a former college player herself, foul shots are usually when an arena is very quiet.
could Mike Patrick be hinting at his personal political preference instead of remembering old football players? (Ron Paulus?)
@ AA
The Douchebag Smurf post is pretty good. Guess its time to cancel "How to be an Objective Member of the Media Seminar" presented by Dick Vitale. I was looking forward to guest lecturer Kirk Herbstreit's "How to Pass Yourself off as an expert while plugging a team you played for / coached."
That game was such bullshit. Duke got an amazing amount of bullshit calls in the first half that utterly sunk any chance the Terps had at an upset. I really can't stand that crap. Bias warning: I root for the terps 'cause dear ol' mum went to College Park.
Stacey is also a professional player thats inexcusable and I'll bust her next time I see her.
"I find it hard to believe that Vasquez was not called for a hold there"
Well Mike I find it hard to believe Paulus was allowed to push off three straight times without a call. Wait a minute, that is not hard to believe, happens all the time.
Has Mike Patrick ever left the eastern seaboard?
Anonymous: "The thing that pisses me off, if this was a lesser announcer, ESPN would axe their ass."
Why does it piss you off? Are you an aspiring announcer who couldn't keep your thoughts straight on live TV with someone speaking in your ear if your life depended on it?
Lesser announcers don't do Duke/Maryland hoops, usually. And people who've been in the business for a long time usually get the occasional brainfart excused.
Especially when you don't get do-overs on live TV. And when you've had major heart surgery.
Now, the Britney thing, THAT was bad. This was just something that happens to announcers.
Not that you'd know. Because you're just a fanboy.
What a fucking retard. The thing that pisses me off, if this was a lesser announcer, ESPN would axe their ass. Instead, I'm sure they'll pretend this didn't happen and instead punish Ron Franklin.
I'm sure if it had been a Britney Spears comment he would have remembered.
