Oh So This Is How You Repay Me ESPN The Magazine Website?

Tuesday, February 19, 2008

I give you great PR this morning on the launch of your new website, and you go and do this to me? You ungrateful bastards. If you head to that site that I posted on earlier today and go to a section called "Lunch Links" you'll see a link to a YouTube video of T.O. dunking in the Celebrity game on Friday. You know, this video.

Well I would love for someone (perhaps Mag.com Staff) to explain how they found that video. See that specific video was placed in the "People and Blogs" section of You Tube and has the title "asdfasasdf". It was also posted by a gentleman named "Ass Fatter" and if you hover over the link you'll see Ass Fatter's true identity at the bottom of your page.

There's an ethics to linking in this here Blogosphere my good friends. Since I'm a nice guy I'm not going to take the video down and repost it, but know that I know. Oh and you might want to credit With Leather and Joe Sports Fan for finding you that Nascar item for you yesterday as well.

Lunch Links (ESPNTheMag.com)

(P.S.- Please save me the crying about not getting a link nonsense. I could care less.)

Who cares?

I'm sure ESPN could put up a link to the dunk if they wanted to...the game was aired on their network.

It's not like you broke news that TO dunked in a celebrity game.

And why didn't they Sean? How else would they have found the video? I'm with AA on this one (for once) that's pretty sketchy.

But I'm with Sean O on one thing:
T.O. dunked in a celebrity basketball game. Who the fuck cares? I'm so shocked that this big news at ESPN. It's worth a mention as AA did. But it's freakin' Tuesday.

um, they are ESPN. they do have highlights. the game was played on ESPN. i'm sure they have footage...

however, if they want to throw links, they need to send them the right way, ie the site that discovered what it is they are linking to...

just a thought.

Ha...good point JJ. Also linking to newspaper articles is pretty boring if you ask me.

Feb 19, 2008, 2:54:00 PM

Hate to say I told you so AA...

This site is not as good as you made it out to be (who cares if it's neatly presented). Another pointless endeavor by ESPN, it's getting kind of old isn't it?

Yep...more and more people come every month and it's recognized by major media sources daily. I have failed.

Oh and you're still here...so that's good as well. You were right, I was wrong. Love you.

Feb 19, 2008, 3:08:00 PM

Sorry AA. Actually given how tight ESPN runs things, I'm suprised they didn't want you to take the clip down.

ESPN taking something from another source and reporting as their own. Gee, that's something that's never happened before...

In a totally unrelated question, whatever happpened to that ESPN:60 or E:60, or whatever it was called show?

Apparently if you want to be truly successful in the sports news world, AA, you should have more posts about the Yankees, T.O., Bobby Knight and Kobe Bryant. What's so hard about that?

Ha I hear you Michael. I think E:60 was only tabbed for a few shows as a tryout...it should be back soon enough.

Yes yes...I should have learned that by now Anon.

Feb 19, 2008, 3:13:00 PM

I'm guessing there's no room for E:60 now that they run a twice a week, three-hour "SportsCenter Special" on Roger Clemens.

E:60, the making of the SportsCenter Special: Roger Clemens and Steroids, with your host Jeremy Schaaap.

I can't believe this is the top news to break out their website..

but i gotta give AA credit, I actually love this site, and go to it daily. It was actually referred to me by my boss, who's in broadcasting. So, kudos to you AA.

Ha thanks Tanman (your check is in the mail)

Feb 19, 2008, 5:08:00 PM

Any website ESPN starts won't be better than AA. Seriously, I check AA 5 or 6 times a day, I go to ESPN, like once or twice a week.

AwfulAnnouncing.com > ESPN.com

(And if someone in Bristol is reading this, ha! You know it's true...I mean, you are reading this right now instead of your own site!!)
