And Your ESPN NBA Playoffs Announcing Schedule

Thursday, April 17, 2008

Almost as soon as I typed TNT's, ESPN came out with their NBA Playoffs schedule for the weekend. Rick Carlisle is actually leaving the studio and will be teamed up with Dave Pasch and Doris Burke will get her shot in the booth as well. ESPN then doesn't telecast another game until the following Friday when they have three games scheduled (Announcers TBD)

Here's what we've got.....

Sat., April 19

12:30 p.m.- Washington at Cleveland, Game 1 (ESPN)
Announcers: Dave Pasch, Rick Carlisle, Holly Rowe
3 p.m.- Phoenix at San Antonio, Game 1 (ABC)
Announcers: Mike Breen, Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy
7 p.m.- Dallas at New Orleans, Game 1 (ESPN)
Announcers: Mike Tirico, Hubie Brown, Lisa Salters
9:30 p.m.- Utah at Houston, Game 1 (ESPN)
Announcers: Dan Shulman, Doris Burke, Heather Cox

Sun., April 20

3 p.m.- Denver at L.A. Lakers, Game 1 (ABC)
Announcers: Mike Breen, Mark Jackson, Jeff Van Gundy, Michele Tafoya

It's going to be hard watching the Cavs crush the Wiz without hearing John Thompson mumble poetic about how great Jamison is even though they are down 30.

Dan Shulman, Doris Burke, Heather Cox.

Are you kidding me? This is the best they can do?

Where's Walton, Snapper, or Dr. Jack? ESPN sucks!

Actually, it's halftime of Houston/Utah, and I'd have to say I really like what Doris Burke is doing. It's refreshing to see a woman doing color on ESPN, and she's doing a hell of a lot better job than Hubie or Walton would.

doris burke does a really good job as the color person. I a find her more imformative and interesting than most people who have these jobs.

OMG! Doris Burke is driving me crazy!! Ok, that's a little strong, but I reeeaally enjoy listening to people who have actually taken part in NBA games. That's the whole point in having play-by-play and color commentary. If Doris wants to do play-by-play, I'm sure she'd be great, but this is way too amateurish... I'm watching the Celtics/Hawks now, and needed to vent. Thanks for having this blog.

Big ups,

Doris Burke is a good. She is knowledgable and enthusiatic about the game she is calling.
