Your List Of Sports Emmy Winners
Tuesday, April 29, 2008
The Sports Emmys are a random award. In past years awards were e given out to problem children like Joe Morgan and Joe Buck, but every once and awhile an Ernie Johnson lands one. This year is surprisingly different. I don't really have a problem with any of the winners outside of the Fiesta Bowl winning best "Live Sports Special". No FOX Bowl Game should ever win a damn thing if you ask me. It makes me wonder if the voters watched the same game we did.
Anyway, here is the list of the more important awards...
OUTSTANDING LIVE SPORTS SPECIAL: BCS on FOX: Tostitos Fiesta Bowl (FOX)
OUTSTANDING LIVE SPORTS SERIES: NASCAR on FOX
OUTSTANDING EDITED SPORTS SPECIAL: De La Hoya/Mayweather 24/7 (HBO)
OUTSTANDING STUDIO SHOW - WEEKLY: College Gameday (ESPN)
OUTSTANDING STUDIO SHOW - DAILY: Inside the NBA
OUTSTANDING SPORTS JOURNALISM: Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel (HBO)
OUTSTANDING SHORT FEATURE: Sunday NFL Countdown (ESPN)
OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – STUDIO HOST: James Brown (CBS)
OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – PLAY-BY-PLAY: Al Michaels (NBC)
OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – STUDIO ANALYST: Cris Collinsworth (HBO/NBC)
OUTSTANDING SPORTS PERSONALITY – SPORTS EVENT ANALYST: John Madden NBC
Also, Frank Chirkinian, who is known as the "Father of Televised Golf" received a lifetime achievement award. Not a bad job all around if you ask me. HBO led the total tally with eight awards while FOX, ESPN, and CBS followed with five, four, and three respectively.

Congrats to Fox for NASCAR being the top sports series. I'm not a huge racing fan, but I think Mike Joy should be a candidate for the outstanding play-by=play award.
No Buck or Nantz = good year
you're telling me that the boise state-oklahoma game was not onbe of the best college football "LIVE" games you've seen?
you're on crack...and continue to amaze that you can blog with ernie johnsons' balls in your mouth
No Emmy for Doc Emrick makes me sad.
You are the idiot "ricky bobby". The awards are based on production quality, not the actual game itself. Fox's BCS coverage is piss poor, especially compared to CBS's and ABC's.
any idea what race FOX won for, for weekly series? I'm a big NASCAR fan and love Fox's work, just curious which one they submitted. Thanks.
Charles, Kenny, Ernie still > over TK and Wilbon.
Shameful.
