ESPN's Coverage Of The 2008 NFL Draft
Tuesday, April 15, 2008
So it's ESPN's 29th year covering the NFL Draft and boy doesn't that make you feel old? All of the regulars are back this year with Chris Berman leading the fray, but there are a few new wrinkles for 2008. Kirk Herbstreit is going to be filling in for Tony Kornheiser with the Monday Night Football trio and a random Around The Horn will take place on Day 2. Here's the full schedule....
ESPN – Day 1:It's one of the best days of the year and I'll be covering it at AA as well. Should be fun....you know with 20+ individuals to poke fun at and all. Oh and another thing to watch for is the ongoing feud between Todd McShay and Mel Kiper. The two have been jabbing at each other on various ESPN programs for the past month and it's only going to get more entertaining over the next few weeks.

Land of 1,000 talking heads. Thank god they have some college guys doing some of the draft. Outside of Jaws and Key I don't think there are any ex-jocks on the panel who actually watches the tape.
I'm going to be the draft on the NFLN though. Mayock and Davis give you just as much with as little ego. McShay is has a huge McEgo (Greeny just couldn't stop saying that. It was like a Gray's Anatomy marathon.) BTW. He called Marshawn Lynch the biggest reach and on a radio interview "some scouts say the Bills needed him but I AM RIGHT!". I would love to see ESPN just show him saying that along with him and Kiper's view of the Giants draft last season when they both wanted us to take Joe Staley.
More evidence Todd McShay's an idiot:

Where's the countdown clock to the SportsCenter Special: The NFL Schedule?
If a meteorite destroyed everything but Set #2, I think the draft would be much more enjoyable.
Forget ESPN Mike and the MadDog on WFAN will be doing the draft coverage. They know more than anyone.
Speaking of Kiper v. McShay, Todd filled in for Golic on Mike and Mike this morning and for at least the 7:45 segment, he and Kiper played nice together. I was damn near disappointed. Damn near that is, until I found out that Mel Kiper Jr. does 100 sit-ups between breaks on his weekend radio show. And refers to his home as the Kiper "K"ompound (I'm adding the K). And will promote anyone who can make a rocking chair that lasts more than a year because he currently has a rocking chair graveyard at the Kiper Kompound.
Yep, this is what I wanted to think about before walking into work today.
