Spell Nepotism, That And More At The Joe Buck Spelling Bee!

Friday, April 18, 2008

Yep folks, it's that time of year. It's time for the Emerson Kidsmart Back 2 School 2008 Celebrity Spelling Bee!!! For the low low price of just seventy six dollars you can join host Joe Buck and various "celebrities" at The Pageant (St. Louis) this May 8th.

At the event, celebrities will be teamed with corporate sponsors to test their knowledge in math, geography and science. Held at The Pageant in the University City Loop, the event includes auctions, raffle, dinner by the bite and drinks.

Proceeds from the “Back to School with Joe Buck Celebrity Bee” benefit KidSmart – Tools for Learning. Founded in 2002, KidSmart works to empower children in need to succeed in school by providing essential school supplies for them to learn. Through a free store for teachers, the basics such as crayons, loose leaf paper and scissors are available to economically disadvantaged youth.
In all seriousness it's always good to give back to the kids, but calling these following people celebrities is just wrong. ....

Karen Foss, Eric Brewer, Julie Buck (I wonder how lil' sis got the gig?), Ralph Butler, Courtney Cooper, Shimmy Gray-Miller

I'm pretty sure people in St. Louis don't know who these people are. Oh and what the hell is "dinner by the bite"?

The attendance of that event should be similar to the Rams games.

Geez, AA, when you wonder how lil' sis got the gig, I'm sure you called and checked. I mean, you wouldn't just spout off and assume something without checking, would you? Your blog doesn't do that, does it?

Ha...it was a joke Anon. She's a radio host in St. Louis, so she is somewhat of a local celebrity.

I have no idea what you're getting at here.

Hit the nail on the head here. Born and raised in St. Louis. Ralph Butler? Shimmy Gray-Miller? Who are these people?

It doesn't seem like a joke to me either. You go so far as to call it nepotism in the headline. If it's a joke, it's not particularly funny.

I'm pretty sure AA was referring to Joe Buck's father with the Nepotism line, and not the sister. I thought it was rather funny.

Do you people even have sense of humors?

At the event, celebrities will be teamed with corporate sponsors...

The head of PR at Ameren & Julie Buck will be praying they don't have to spell "blackout."

Was Tim McCarver's appearance fee was too large? I'd pay to see him out there.

Who the hell are these people???

Dinner by the bite means you pay so much per bite. If you have a healthy appetite, you're fucked.
