Tim Tebow Found A Position To Play In The NFL.....Right Tackle
Thursday, January 01, 2009
Hilarious screengrab from the Orange Bowl this evening from reader RW. At the start of the game, FOX put up the starting lineup graphic for Cincinnati's offense and for their right tackle a picture of Tim Tebow was shown. The best part though....that Right Tackle's name....Khalil El-Amin.
Too funny. It's not really the fact that Tebow has a Muslim name, but rather the fact....HE'S NOT EVEN PLAYING IN THE GAME! I know they have to prep for the Championship Game, but that's inexcusable. ESPN's contract with the BCS can't start soon enough.

Tebow plays the game like Anthony Munoz!

If Musburger could mention Tim Tebow in a game he had nothing to do with, why not Fox?

Yep, Fox definitely screwed up the photo.
You know what else is "inexcusable"? The use of the phrase "Muslim name" to describe a name of ARABIC origin. Except in this instance, it was from a guy who constantly rails about the evil racism that exists all across America.
That's good 'cause he's not going to be a NFL QB.
I also agree with Kumar up there about the phrase "Muslim name". Not cool.
The geniuses at fox also screwed up the chryon during their first "ticker" recap of the capital one bowl...it said "Georgia 24 Michigan 12"...way to go, fox.
@Anon 12:21
That just goes to show you the state of Michigan football, though. They lose games they don't even play now.
@sanjay & anon
This insult shall not stand. I declare Jihad. Who's with me?
Nobody.
Well then, carry on.
Hey, at least Tebow's a current player. Coulda used a picture of KhaliD El-Amin.
Arabic = Muslim = Jihad
There, I said it.
pathetic idiot you are Anon 4:34...
Arab(ic) does not mean Muslim? Where have you been for the last 1500 years?
This wasn't a case of someone stating that Iranians, Pakistanis, Egyptians were Arab...
ESPN is no better, everyone remembers the AAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGG Series.
So AA used the wrong term, give the guy a break. If he had said Patrick O'Callahan was a Catholic name, no one would have complained even though that could have been inaccurate too.
If Musburger could mention Tim Tebow in a game he had nothing to do with, why not Fox?
Mushberger took a break from fellating Southern Cal? I swear he wants to put on a Song Girl uniform and meet the whole team under the bleachers.
Let's talk about what's really important...the return of the FOX band shots! My God, a year later and it still sucks. I declare jihad.
Guess FOX had a Tebowner too. Didn't really notice it on the coverage last year, but yeah, FOX does show an inordinate amount of band shots. Really? Like after every single play. I understand showing when they are playing and their excitement, but c'mon, it's not neccessary EVERY SINGLE PLAY when they are just sitting there picking their nose. It's ridiculous!
Yes,
All Arabs are Muslims.
Sincerely,
all people in Utah are whites and Mormons.
AA, a better rendering would be: ESPN can't force the BCS to implement a playoff soon enough. Nice try, though, I guess...
I worked as a graphics producer for ESPN College Football and while that is a terrible mistake, there are thousands of players you don't know if they walked into you, the schools for the most part come in to check the lineups pregame. The Cincy SID cleary did not go check the lineups.
Again, terrible mistake by the FOX BA, producer, talent and Cincinnati...they probably rehearsed the lineups 5 times.
FOX's CFB coverage sucks balls...glad ESPN/ABC got it back.
I'm not surprised that this joker used the term 'Muslim name.' The writing on this blog is pretty Awful itself. It's pretty lightweight considering the competition.
I love this blog and all it stands for, but Brian, you owe us a public apology. After all, not all Arabs are Muslims and not all Muslims are Arabs. Hope you learned that somewhere along the way.
As for the mistake itself, I agree with the former ESPN producer that it was a team effort (or lack thereof).
By "us," I mean people like me who already know that. I am neither Muslim or Arab myself.
God, I hate ESPN's monopoly on EVERY GOOD SPORTING EVENT, but at least the graphics are more often than not professional and accurate.
