ESPN Hates Us, Erin Andrews Only On The Sideline For One Bowl Game!

Friday, December 14, 2007

I know she has other gigs to take care of, but seriously who really watches College Basketball while there are Bowl Games going on? Our friend Erin has only been tabbed to work one...count them one Bowl Game.

She'll be on the sidelines for the Alamo Bowl on December 29th, and that's it folks. Well not entirely. She'll be a sideline reporter for the Rose Bowl, but get this....on ESPN Radio. What's the point?

So who are we getting instead of EA? Here's the list:

San Diego County Credit Union Poinsettia Bowl- Rob Stone
New Orleans Bowl- Stacey Dales
Papajohns.com Bowl- Rob Simmelkjaer
New Mexico Bowl- Dave Ryan
Pioneer Las Vegas Bowl- Bonnie Bernstein
Sheraton Hawaii Bowl- Jeannine Edwards
Motor City Bowl- Quint Kessenich
Pacific Life Holiday Bowl- Lisa Salters
Champs Sports Bowl- Holly Rowe
Emerald Bowl- Rob Stone
Meineke Car Care Bowl- Quint Kessenich
AutoZone Liberty Bowl- Vince Welch
Valero Alamo Bowl- Erin Andrews
PetroSun Independence Bowl- Stacey Dales
Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl- Todd Harris
Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl- Jack Arute
Chick-fil-A Bowl- Bonnie Bernstein
Outback Bowl- Rob Stone
Capital One Bowl- Holly Rowe
International Bowl- Stacey Dales
GMAC Bowl- Rob Stone

UPDATE: This comes via Reader Desmond....

Some sideline report news and rumors: Shannon Spake will be reporting from at least one of the ESPN bowl games, according to The Daly Planet blog. One of the responders in the comments section in the same article indicates that Krista Voda will be the sideline reporter at the Cotton Bowl.

Both Spake and Voda are usually NASCAR correspondents.
EA did beat out both of them in Playboy's Hottest Sportscaster contest, but apparently she's being pushed aside for some fresh faces.

I will gladly console Stacey Dales for the slap-in-the-face you've given her.

So I guess the Daly Planet is wrong. That blog reported that Shannon Spake of its NASCAR coverage would be at one of the games. I don't see her name up there, so she won't be on the sidelines, I'm afraid.

I also noted that in the posting that showed the booth announcers.

Desmond- I think it's still a possibility. They'll probably add her to a New Year's Day game with say Bonnie Bernstein to promote NASCAR on ABC.

Daly Planet is a good source of info.

Not sure about Voda either. She reported at the Cotton Bowl last year, but an article in the LA Daily News indicated that Jeanne Zelasko will be working the sidelines.

I initially read that as Shannon Sharpe. Almost smashed my monitor.

I can't believe that Erin is only doing one game. She should do at least 4. Come on ESPN.

My friend Desmond seems to be on the "throw JD under the bus tour" today. My column indicated that Shannon Spake would be on ESPN's coverage of college football. It did not mention a Bowl Game, and did not even specify TV or radio.

The info came from TVspy.com, an industry newsletter. Um...thanks, Desmond.

Perhaps EA has commitments to perform sideline reporting duties for college basketball in that stretch? Either that or they're "keeping her fresh" for next summer's Little League World Series.

Thanks a lot for providing the commentators on the sidelines.
Big fan of EA. Any chance you'll be having the basketball games that she'll cover as well beforehand?
