Wow, Jake Plummer got big. That beard is very impressive as well.

"They're trying to figure out how to attack Sex.....Texas."- Kirk Herbstreit

I think the term "Face Rape" comes to mind. Also anyone have an over/under on the number "Booms" do you think Herbstreit will unleash tonight? I've counted two already.

"The faster team always wins."- Bob Davie

Really? Is Bob Davie playing the Siragusa roll for tonight's game???

What in the hell was that ballboy doing?!?! Oh he's going to get killed if the ball goes back to ASU.

"Do we have a reverse angle of his left thumb?"- Brent Musburger

That was one of the oddest plays I've ever seen. And it's overturned! Amazing!!!

"We got a new Steve Bartman in the State of Texas!"- Kirk Herbstreit

"Everyone's looking at him like.....Duuuude.....Oh no."- Kirk Herbstreit in his best stoner voice

"When I asked one of the Sports Information guys they said they didn't want to embarrass him."- Lisa Salters

(Video of all of that in the works in case you missed it.)

"I'm sure he will be a first round draft choice over there, Williams, were you aware of how good he is?" -Brent Musburger
"...I think that was his signature game, Chris Johnson..." -Kirk Herbstreit
"Yah, Chris Johnson was phenomenal..." - Brent Musburger

Brent Musburger asked what Jake Plummer was up to these days and never answered. According to wikipedia Plummer is in to handball now. Also, interestingly enough, under the "personal" section it lists the Jake "pisses intensity". I bet that hurts.

When introducing his defensive starters, Texas coach Mack Brown looked down at something off screen on his lap. It seemed that he looked at a piece of paper that had his starter's names on it.

Haha....I'm a little behind, so hopefully I'll see them in a few.

Dec 27, 2007, 8:35:00 PM

anyone else think it's funny that Brent is more upset about the "pass interference controversy" than anyone one the Az State sideline?

There are hardly any commercials in this first quarter....what's going on?

Dec 27, 2007, 8:57:00 PM

did anyone else hear that? It sounded like they just ran a texas' coaches headset directly into the feed.

am i making this up?

PL- I think it was Mack Brown near the mic.

Dec 27, 2007, 9:14:00 PM

I don't think that ball boy will want to show his face in Texas ever again. Fortunately, Arizona State is offering him a full ride.

Absolutely unbelievable play. I have been a football official for a number of years and have never seen anything like that. It is the correct call though, regardless of whether the kid touched the ball or not. He can not be on the field like that during a live play.

Wasn't that Mack Brown's son?

half the UT bench was on the field. Best part is they compared him to Steve Bartman. They say his name is Chris but the SID wont ID himfly because he doesnt want to embarass him. too late buddy.

Umm.....Mack Brown's son is named Chris. Wouldn't that be hilarious?!

Dec 27, 2007, 9:23:00 PM

Via Wikipedia his son's name is Chris....sorry.

Dec 27, 2007, 9:24:00 PM

BTW - on the ensuing 4th and 3 which ASU converted for the touchdown, the ASU receiver gave the crowd the "shocker" hand gesture. So many levels of comedy it makes my head spin.

Dec 27, 2007, 9:28:00 PM

And it's official.....it's his Stepson. Hahahahaha.

Dec 27, 2007, 9:30:00 PM

Oh - and it might have been important had Herbie and the Drunk mentioned UT had been given a sideline warning earlier in the game.

jb said...
Dec 27, 2007, 9:33:00 PM

In my usual running back & forth to the store for more booze, the dynamic duo that is Dan Fouts & Tim Brant on ESPN Radio keeps referring to him as Mack Brown's 'son,' not 'stepson.'

@jb:
Usually you get two or three sideline warnings before you get a penalty, as I've understood it. I've been wrong before, though.

Rick James Bible Owner said...
Dec 27, 2007, 9:37:00 PM

@rjbo I'm not saying they deserve a penalty or anything, but when a member of the sideline jumps onto the field and changes the momentum of the game, it might be worth noting the team had previously received a sideline warning. That's all I'm saying.

jb said...
Dec 27, 2007, 9:41:00 PM

You get one sideline warning before you get penalized. In that situation, that wasn't really the call. A second "warning" would have been five yards tacked on after the fumble recovery. This particular call was due the influencing of the play by a non-player. Still I can't believe it..incredible

Dec 27, 2007, 11:03:00 PM

Apparently wasn't the shocker that was thrown up earlier after the TD. Apparently just some ASU thing since Dennis Erickson's sister just threw it up in that awkward interview.

I'm guessing it's supposed to be a pitchfork.

Chase said...
Dec 27, 2007, 11:17:00 PM

ASU uses it as well Chase.

Dec 27, 2007, 11:19:00 PM

Yeah, I saw the sis do it during that interview. I very well could be wrong about it, but I thought that hand gesture was commonly known as the shocker. Pitchfork sounds as good as anything.

jb said...
Dec 27, 2007, 11:24:00 PM

had to Tivo it but apparently the index/pointer finger are separated so probably not technically the shocker.

I've now completed my shocker tutorial and will no longer discuss it.

Erickson's sis just did the shocker. teehee

New Segment... What did Mack Brown just say as he joked with the referee?

"Sideline warning?! C'Mon, give me a break. At least my ass hole stepson didn't touch it this time."

Hush everyone. We all know Eli is unstoppable.

Dec 28, 2007, 12:15:00 AM

I turned this one on midway through the fourth quarter. Is there some reason Herbstreit and Musberger have been practically calling for a running clock?

Also, Musberger is right: the Giants are absolutely going to beat the Patriots because Tom Coughlin's Boston College team beat Notre Dame in 1993. Because the two games are absolutely related.

Dec 28, 2007, 12:17:00 AM

Time of game: 4 hours and 18 minutes. I think my TiVo just blew up.

Colt McCoy does not look nearly cool enough to have a name like Colt McCoy. His name should be Jim Bob Jenkins, or something less awesome than Colt McCoy.

hahaha, i heard that. i thought that was just me mookie.

Jesse talked about the danger to the players that a coach on the sideline would be to a player. I'd be more worried about a 55 year old coach getting trucked by a 20 year old kid running full speed with pads and a helmet!

Heard it too Mook.....I swear they drink in the booth. Musburger already sounds drunk.

OMDQ- Bob Jenkins is a pretty badass name in its own right.

Dec 28, 2007, 12:28:00 AM

I can't even keep up with you people tonight. Thanks for helping me out with this monstrosity....we'll sort it all out tomorrow.

Wasn't around last night, but I knew Brent had to get one more shot in. And he did. He reminded us that "USC was one of those teams with a legitimate claim to be in the national championship game."

Yep. Right after LSU, Oklahoma, Virginia Tech, Kansas, and Missouri.

And he's saying this shit just as USC's one "quality win" claim is going out the window.

J.J. said...

USC lost to Stanford. Nuff said. I know USC has two losses, but if a school has one loss and it's to the following:
ACC: Duke
SEC: Ole Miss
Big XII: Baylor
Big Ten: Minnesota
Pac Ten: Stanford
then they should automatically not be eligible.

Saw the 'What's Bob Davie doing on the Sidelines' thing and forgot to look it up.
His son is a reserve tight end or defensive end on Arizona State.
Davie was on the sidelines during the USC-ASU game, too.
