ESPN Okay With Berman YouTubes

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

I didn't really expect them not to be, but I'm really surprised they responded to an inquiry about them. MDS at Fanhouse sent an email to the head honchos at ESPN and they responded in kind regarding the Chris Bermans clips....

The off air videos are now nearly a decade old and do not reflect his typical workplace demeanor, his relationships with co-workers, nor the contributions he has made to ESPN over many years. Chris has a tremendous connection with sports fans and his body of work should not be judged by a few minutes of unguarded language uttered years ago. We aren't excusing the language used and will be emphasizing to our workforce the importance of using appropriate language in the workplace.
Ha...."emphasizing the importance of using appropriate language". I willing to bet that this has been Berman's M.O. for quite some time (i.e.- drinking a beer at the Pro Bowl and with leather), but that's not really the issue. In the end they are harmless and Chris Berman is probably drunk off of Chardonnay laughing his ass off at them just like us.

ESPN Says Chris Berman Videos 'Do Not Reflect His Typical Workplace Demeanor' (Fanhouse)

10 Comments:

Chardonnay? More like cheap prescription drugs smuggled home from Canadia.

Man, I wish I had some of those.

Who does this fat slob think he is? Like this babe would even look at his sweaty ass if he wasn't pimping for ESPN. Take away the ESPN credentials, and this guy couldn't get laid in a Turkish whorehouse.

Anyone see Berman do the "greatest highlight" bullshit on SC? God its terrible, I swear ESPN is trying to ruin these highlights by having this clown give the play by play.

I'm not defending Berman, but have you ever worked on live television? If you screw up, somebody's gonna give you shit. Usually the director. I've heard tons of people get cursed out for screwing up shots, graphics, etc.. But then after the broadcasts, they talk about it. Nobody takes it personally. But an anchor doing it is another story.
