Let's Play The Feud: Yanks-Rays Edition

Wednesday, March 12, 2008

I can't believe it took ESPN about 3 hours to get this video, but here it is from ESPN News. A pretty cheap slide by Shelly Duncan starts the arguing and a horrible tackle attempt by Johnny Gomes clears the benches.....

Pretty lame, but aren't all baseball fights not involving Nolan Ryan and Robin Ventura? Nice Anchorman reference by Anish Shroff (whoever that is) though.

Update: Just hit play on the Google Video...I'll put the Youtube back up shortly.

You might remember Anish Shroff as a competitor on the second season of ESPN's Dream Job show. Just started at ESPNews in the past month.

Two mentions on the early SportsCenter in the first 15 minutes. Nothing about the Rockets' 19-game winning streak yet. Oh, I'm wrong. Spring training fights are more important than the 4th longest winning streak in NBA history. Especially when the Yankees are involved.

What is baseball going to do about those thuggish violent baseball players who try to kill each other with 90mph baseballs??

I guess you have to have cornrows and tattoos to be considered a thug when you fight your opponent... just another lame post... pres-season brawls are just awesome!!!

What is it with the Yankees and signing actors to minor-league contracts? First Billy Crystal, and then Matthew Lillard from Scooby Doo comes in and cleats a second baseman.

That anon must be JT the Brick, who said something similar about a caller from Detroit with a Middle Eastern sounding name. Why does racist smack always end up here? The dude isn't the best (the "sh"s can get annoying after a while), but please, no racist shit here.

ESPN couldn't hire the "Locked up in a tight one" guy from 'Dream Job'?

Mar 12, 2008, 8:48:00 PM

Oh my god the yankees are involved! Get it omn the lead!

Now, not only are we going to be subjected to Boston/NY rivalry games all year long, we're going to be subjected to Tampa/NY 'revenge' games all year long.

Look, ESPN, we understand NY is the biggest media market in the US, but just come out and say you're gonna slurp them instead of making up these ridiculous reasons to cover them.

Cheap, cheap shot by Duncan sliding in...absolutely ridiculous. If I get Girardi's mindset down, it's not ok for a Rays player to do a perfectly legal take out of a catcher in the basepath, but it's ok for his guy to go in spikes up into the nuts of the Rays player?
