What Could Possibly Go Wrong ESPN?

Saturday, March 08, 2008

I found this hilarious video over at Fark today and it looks like it's just been recently added to YouTube. Ladies and Gentlemen I give almost 10 minutes of Bobby Knight outtakes from a Golf show he co-hosted in the 80s (expect lots of cursing)....

"We hope Golf Your Way, we hope will be a unique instructional period for each of you out there that's a godd**n, f**king bad golfer like me."- BK

Now that's a mission statement! Keep giving him a mic live ESPN...it's only a matter of time.

Until the end there, it was absolutely hilarious, and I think it was more the golfing (or his lack at playing it) that had him cursing...good stuff, great find.

As an IU fan, I have seen those clips (and more) a hundred times. There's some good stuff out there if you keep searching.

I don't think he'll curse on ESPN, but I don't think he'll be real good either. Mainly, because he isn't used to having a "give and take" conversation. He is used to dictating orders. Doesn't really make good television.

This had been floating around the coaching community for quite a while. Think it was shot in '94.....my VHS copy of it came into my hands in 1998, I think.

And if you watch us late at night, we'll help you play with yourself.

Seen or not, it's still great.

OK, off-topic, but just tuned into Duke-UNC, and they're showing the National Anthem and the starting lineups in the stadium (i.e., not just a graphic). Why? I'm all for being patriotic, but have they been doing this for the other Saturday night games, especially the Memphis-Tennessee game, which was #1 vs. #2? I may have to turn this game off if more stuff like this goes on.

People who accuse ESPN of being excessive or biased need only to point to examples like this. OK, I'm done.

@paco:

I think ESPN wanted to show the moment of silence for slain UNC Student Body President Eve Carson and couldn't do that without showing the National Anthem. As for the starting lineups....um...'cause it's Senior Day at Duke?

@rick:

OK, sorry about that -- came in on the middle of that and didn't realize they were doing that. I just assumed it was ESPN hyping the game to a Super Bowl level.

Don't be mistaken. ESPN is trying desperately to hype UNC-Duke. Why are Peyton & Eli Manning at the game (and don't give me that David Cutcliffe excuse)? Is there an Oreo lick-off as the halftime entertainment? They also said LeBron James was supposed to be there, but got snowed in. Focus on the game.

Actually Eli and Payton are at just about major sporting event if you watch. And if you don't think that the General is funny and a great man, your probably a whiny pussy ass liberal who has never had a disciplined coach giving you the biz for your own good.

I, for one, agree with Rick. As a result, I lack discipline. Coincidentally, my coach avoided eye contact and gave weak handshakes.

a) This has been around the youtube block, yet still hilarious.

and 2) What the hell was up with the UNC/Duke coverage? Did they really have to zoom in that close to the ball handler? I was getting seizures.
